Living that long doesn't guarantee you'll be able to travel to much of it tbh.
Even if everything works out technically science-wise, still need the infrastructure, materials, position of power etc
That's assuming everything that can go wrong doesn't. Wars, climate change, disease, getting hit by a drunk driver, your own mental health.
Waaaay too many variables
Live for long enough and you'll change so much you might as well be living a new life. It only really takes the length of one life time to be done with it or go mad.
I don't know if I could spend a billion pounds in one lifetime either, I'm not one to be extravagant in my living but I'd definitely use that money to fund my animation and comic projects first.
The money. Insuring that I, and everyone I know and care about, can live without want or worry for the rest of our lives, or simply exist to see our planet (in the words of Omni Man) turn to dust and blow away? Yeah, easy choice, no contest.
Nah.
There are great things. And it would be fun to see how things further evolve.
Only thing Id be fearful for is to see certain types of evil eventually topple and ruin everything great....under the disguise of 'we can do it better / we are freeing X people from X thing, now unto new management'...which will be a coin-flip if it will be any better or worse, then after X amount of years, a New political X will rise up and demands changes from THAT system.
I admit, it would be interesting to witness how many times Humanity will repeat itself.
The Sins they talk about being Virtues...but are just Sins under a new coat of paint
I don't think human beings are meant to live that long. You'd have to ascend to a higher being to even take advantage of something like that. The human brain is so small that you'd probably become a goop of half forgotten memories by the time you hit a thousandth of your lifetime.
since its only a question of being alive and not immortal for the time you could always end it early when you got tired of it after some 10,000 years if you wanted
Because death is sad and unnecessary? The world would tend to become paradise if people simply didn't die. People would learn the difficult lessons and move on, they would heal from their traumas and move on. Either way, they get better. Time and experience improves people. The person you'd be after a billion years would be happier and more capable, and a better influence on the world. The person you'd be after a billion dollars is probably just a sociopath.

No, it would be overpopulated to the point of mass starvation, ecosystem collapse, and so on. There are only so many people this planet can support. And bad, greedy, and selfish people would still exist. Just because they would have more time doesn't necessarily mean that they would learn and get better.
Also, after a while, life would become stagnant and meaningless. Being able to experience new things is important. Also, we learn to treasure life and make the most of every day through knowing that we don't have infinite time. What would you do when you have experienced everything, seen everything, done everything? When there is nothing left to experience or learn? You would get extremely bored. Most people would probably go insane in less than a few thousand years.
Death can be sad, yes, but it can also be the peaceful conclusion of a life spent well.
And it is actually necessary. Life on this planet as a whole is a cycle. If there is birth, there has to be death. It's just how the Universe works - for each thing to exist, its opposite has to exist too.
The person you'd be after a billion dollars is probably just a sociopath.
Money is power, and power can corrupt, yes. But it doesn't necessarily have to. And I can think of a lot of things I could use that money for that would make the world a little better. Funding projects that solve problems in third-world countries, funding nature preservation and restoration, opening my own horse rescue and shelter, opening an art school that offers free tuition to people who really want to learn art but can't afford it, funding cancer research... just off the top of my head.
a billion pounds is nothing in comparison to having the time of a billion years
have a billion years and you can get both over time and more
+you dont have to live all of it if you end up spending all your time just suffering since being able to be alive and being immortal unable to die is not the same
had it been a question of a billion years of immortal life then i might have made some more consideration since being immortal does not save you from the potential of being buried alived and forgotten for a billion years suffering all the while
Honestly, a billion pounds is a great way to invest in a better future with improving infostructures and economic crises. I couldn't handle the concept of outliving all of my family members and my love partners and becoming a bitter all-seeing hermit that only see the dark side of humanity or life itself.
Thanks. I sometimes ask myself "Do I really want to live forever if it means losing precious memories of people and never emotionally connecting with mortals witnessing constant rises and downfalls of societies?" a lot. Heck, I know I'm not going draw furry porn forever.
Live for a billion years of course, maybe even forever if that's possible. So that I can try to understand how universe came to be. So I can see more of the world. So that I get to become my fursona in the future or something.

If I was British or English:: a billion pounds

some are just further along the wrong path than others
Its amusing that they seem to get worse over time, everywhere.
I want to live long enough in order for magic to be discovered, so I can be a brooding wizard pondering my orb at the top of my tower.
Oh, you mean money. Billion years, obviously, because the pound sterling ain't gonna be worth SHIT.
1 billion years: evolve into a crab
i think the answer is obvious here
