My Wood Work, i use the metric System and make the photos with a Scale for Measurements, for better Presentation of the Size. The other Thing, i use the botanic Name of the Trees. I have no idea how i translate the Name of the Trees correct and with the botanic Name, i can assure that every one have the correct tree, if it put on Google. And more often, i have access to very accurate botanic Name of the Trees.
