anyone know how to get more commissions?

just going to vent a little (complaining)
i haven’t been able to get commissions for months, and while i know money is still tight due to the pandemic, i still feel a little down because of it
maybe it’s because im not posting enough? maybe im not advertising enough? i’ve only ever found myself getting my likes/shares/reposts/reblogs whenever i’ve posted fan art, but rarely ever when i post my original content
i used to get a lot of traction when i was mostly drawing homestuck, and a steady amount of commissions too - now that i mostly ever draw furry stuff, sometimes here and there i’ll get a commissioner and a little bit of traction. i love drawing furries, it’s what i’m most comfortable with, it’s my little “guilty” niche art that comforts me and i feel very safe in this community
maybe it’s because i don’t engage enough with others in the community? maybe i do, probably most certainly, and it makes me feel so guilty, and my excuse is every time is because i’m very caught up in real life and managing to crawl out of poverty one step at a time
those moments when i do have the mental and physical energy to draw, when i can escape the world for a second and reminisce in my characters
but gosh, is it so hard to do when bills are stacked up and social push from family to go back to college and work full time and ADHD on top of that makes everything so… incredibly difficult
i’m probably not helping my case at all with getting my commissions by saying all this publicly, but i want to be more open, more real on my page, share my struggles and find connection with others that can relate

And like you, i can"t understand how people do mutuals/friends on social media.. but it seems to help a lot, like your friends can help ya get visibility and stuff easily if they already have an audience and it's super helpful...
Anyway i hope you'll get more followers and visibility, i really love your art and your characters a lot
about internet friends, neither can i! i used to, when i was a teenager, i still have some online friends but rarely rarely everrr do we talk. busy lives

and for real, like i do NOT have the capability to spam post and thus annoying my followers, cant produce enough art to even do that, so the darkness it is; and hope someone finds me lmao

I know many artists find it helps to create YCHs or offer commissions in particular styles (like the NITW or Animal Crossing game styles, which your chibi style reminds me a little bit of!)
Sometimes joining furry discord servers and advertising can help as well, though not always a lot.
