I never would have thought I'd get a chance to photograph this plane two years before its retirement (replaced by the T-45 Goshawk in 2008).
The aircraft entered service in 1959 and was intended to introduce Student Naval Aviators to jets. There are no built-in weapons, however, it does have two hardpoints for gun pods, 100lb practice bombs, or 2.75 inch rockets. Between 1958 and 1970, 529 Buckeyes were built.
Though no longer in service with the U.S. Navy, some are registered in civilian markings and regularly appear at airshows. (Photo was taken in 2006)
