Okay this is my hideous left ankle. It burns daily and itches to where i need to scratch to the bone. The skin is scaley and rough. It gets infectrd and pus like often.
The hospital doc looked at it. Called it an anon rash and billed me for $200 and gave me steroid cream. Which only made it worse. Now. Its on my forearms qnd one patch on my upper back.
Doc said i need to see a skin specialist. He thinks its genetic and was dormant.
I dunno. Makes me feel ugly. But my husband says even if it covers my body im beautiful..

I am not a doctor, If you have pets it could be flea's or mites. even if you spray and treat they will go after another food source. Also it could be the detergent you or possible the sock you were or use. you legs and ankles are rubbed the most when you walk so that can cause a rash.
You may be allergic to some fabric or some thing but from the look of it it look like flea bites. I would mention bed bugs because they can sneak in when you least expect it and they will cause rash like that and they do go for ankles and arms. if is spreads to your stomic or back then it is external insect or allergy.

Unfortunately ive been in a home with bedbugs lastyear. None are here in my new home. Ive had a small patch of dry skin there when i was 9. Thats why the doc said he couldnt do anything.
An allergy may be possible..switched from tide or gain 4 years ago.
Husband said he is forcing me to go to the derm this weekend.

bed bugs are tough as nails to get rid of. You pretty much have to cover everything or burn all the furniture to get rid of them.
Sadly, if you cover everything then things look incredibly odd in your apartment or you wind up without a bed and furniture to sit and relax/sleep on :/
If the patch has been there since you were 9, you may want to go see a dermatologist... this probably isn't something light i would say

On a bad day I can have shins so itchy that I scratch until I bleed... Even though the skin itself looks fairly fine (apart from all the red bleeding bits), turns out all I needed to do was moisturise the crap out of it. Insane amounts of heavy duty moisturisers (applied until I was constantly greasy-legged) killed the itch after a couple of days, which then resulted in the bleeding bits healing. If I quit slapping cream on, it begins itching and the cycle begins over... Stupid but true, and may be worth a go?
The doc ultimately prescribed me a thing called "diprobase", but I find that simple stuff like Nivea or E45 works too. Just look for anything that has emergency, or SOS, or intense on the label and specifically says for very dry skin.
The other bizarre but easy to try option, is athletes foot cream like Mycil or Scholl. Easy enough to pick up a random fungal skin infection, and indeed steroids and antibiotics will do little to help because they're targeting the wrong thing.
Not that I can promise either will help, but both are cheaply and easily available ^^;

Ive always had a rough patch on my ankle when i was about 9 i noticed it. My ankles would constantly give out on me and i have up track for good. My mother shrugged it off as a rash or dry skin. But back then the patch was no larger than two quarters.
As i got older the patch would have moments where it flared up and started spreading. But recent years it didnt go dormant. And has only gotten worse. And now. Its in small patches on both my arms and on my back. They itch and burn but are no where close to this picture.
It bleeds if im walking too long or put too much pressure on it. Imy hair folicles fill with pus. It itches and burns, i do my best not to scrstch it. Lately i have very painful stepd

that helps a lot n.n i know that its not the type of psoriasis i have because i dont get pus and it doesnt burn cant be the eczema either since the two are similar. does it burn when you put things on it or just in general? im going to look up something about it to see if i can help you. im really good at finding things on the net normally.
Oh yes. The steroid cream that the doc gave me burned badly. Neosporin even burns which is odd..i clean it daily but to put soap on it burns and irritates it. My ankles hurt more recently now..v.v
I have this on both ankles and shins. Just the left is worse than the right.
I think cherry got it tho. Statis dermatitus. But ill be seeing a skin specialist when my paycheck comes in.

ofc soap is gonna irritate is because most soap scraps the skin if you have seen those dove commercials. i would suggest dove body wash/soap and if that still bothers you then maybe baby oil or things for sensitive skin or for babies. i know it sound degrading but if it helps or even soothes it then its worth a try. since i have psoriasis i cant use things like lotion with certain scents. it irritates my skin so badly >.<
Ahh, like the eczema specific ones? Yeah they might help, but eczema can be something you have to actively work at eliminating.
It is hereditary and can appear out of nowhere. My brother has his on his ankles, and dealt with it for years before mine showed up. Only eczema specific lotions would help it, if it is actually that (which would be better than some of the other alternatives)
Best of luck to you!

It looks a lot like gravitational dermatitis. I have it too on my left leg and ankle, and mine is actually worse.

You can talk to me about how to treat it correctly, and your doctor is dumb for mistreating you. Granted steroid cream should help clear it up, but there are other things you can do, and more info about treatment.

Well hope that helped, and as you can see, it's not like, life threatening unless it gets infected badly, but you do have to maintain and care for it if that is what it is, to lessen the icthing, redness, and swelling. And yes, mine did spread a little bit because i scratched it, and spread the pus over more of my leg before i knew what it was for me, so even more of what it sounds like, and i do have scaly skin myself there, and if i do stand on it too long or bump my leg or something like that, it does bleed through my skin, but i've managed to keep it pretty clean and clear, and it hasn't done that for like a month now.
Now as for the other potential problems that may arise or be symptoms because of something like this, i can't say hon, that a doctor would have to check you out more thoroughly for, but at least for this, it's not thaaaat bad, so to speak ya know. Just trying to info you what it might be, and how to help ^^

Oh wow, it does look resemble that too. Good job on the cross research.
Seems like if it might not be gravitational dermatitis, it could possibly be this, though the description says it seldom itches, and Kae seems to have itching along with other symptoms like this that seem to lean closer towards dermatits, but i leave no possibilities out until conclusive. Right on Asch.

Welcome to our fee-for-service healthcare system. If you went to a service that paid on the "quality" of care and patient outcomes, it would be different as a team of docs would work on your case. As for this issue, I think the two suggestions made earlier are probably it. However, in both cases, only a qualified DERMATOLOGIST can diagnose you and provide you with treatments. If money's tight, call around and see if any will provide a cash discount given your circumstance.
Hm I'm not a doctor or anything. But I know from being so stressed out at my part-time job working for 40+ hrs a week always doing grill my arm started getting an allergic reaction to the heat and grease splatter. So every time I do the grill now I get a itchy rash on my arm. Which I think in my case it's a heat rash now from so much stress from the place but even when it's cold out I get it so it doesn't make sense. But yeah it could be anything. But it's best to see a dermatologist.
