Purcell - Music for a While, from Dryden and Lee's Oedipus
Music for a while
Shall all your cares beguile.
Wond'ring how your pains were eas'd
And disdaining to be pleas'd
Till Alecto* free the dead
From their eternal bands,
Till the snakes drop from her head,
And the whip from out her hands.
*The Greek Fury known as the unceasing anger who punishes mortals' moral crimes, like anger. (Yeah, haha, a helpful example)
I saw that a few watchers of mine keep referring to Purcell, so here's one of my favourite songs of his.
As usual, antiup is on the lute and I am singing.
Soon I'll be singing a couple of Blake poems~ stay tuned!

Egads, what's that language doing in my music? 'Tis not fit for song like the gentle Italian or caressing French!
And I love that opera - some sections are so beautiful that I can't even begin to comprehend. And no, he did not, he did write a couple of uninteresting ones though, but they still sounded pleasant!

I've heard of goosebumps, but goose pimples!? That's entirely on another level, if you're not a teenager any more I ought to refer you to my dermatologist. But I'm flattered, if I can ruin one's complexion and they're still complementing me there's no way I could have messed up, haha! Thank you~ I hope that my future submissions will be just as devastating.
Oh this is one of my favorite pieces! I am so happy to hear this ohhhhh! And hoping for more Purcell definitely! :D
And I think you wrote something about Youtube videos of you, and why there is none of them anymore, and in all my honesty I can tell you are just one of the best singers of early music, and the most beautiful sopranos I have ever heard and had privilege to communicate to as well - how could anyone compare you, being so young and yet having such wonderful expression and a beautiful manner in your singing, to some 'starts' or 'big names' or even dare to comment something in negative way. One should be happy to hear such talent, such voice that can be heard and actually exists in the sea of kitsch and just horror of what people consider as music and art today. I have heard a lot of those singing very roughly, not following the style, breaking the rules, being even flat. I have never heard a single drop of mistake or disharmony in anything you have put up so far. Only beauty, breathing with the music, and floating in the air like a Bird of Eden.

Heh, it's one of mine as well, though I think it sounds better when sung by a counter-tenor!
Actually my main instrument is the violin! That being said, there probably are YouTube thingamajigs with me in orchestral settings, recordings mostly. And gah, the praise is too much! I guess that I'm much better now than when I used to post things, but I really don't care much for that site, it's very impersonal and childish (alright, saying that on a site where most people identify with animal avatars is ironic, but you know what I mean!). My 'problem' is that I've yet to try and make a name for myself outside of professional circuits, but to be honest I don't fancy the lifestyle seeing as I'm doing fine as I am; once you take on the burden of fame you have to keep feeding the audience's hunger.
I guess I owe my expressive ability to having touched quite a few peaks and troths in life, and I dare say that temporarily altering my brain's metabolism played a part here and there, heh. Of course, I am a lover of historically informed performances and I try my best to bring out the life in the music, afterall, the emotions and perversions we have now have always existed and have always been portrayed in art; so in the end, there's no need to try and sing in an operatic style, you need to sing what you feel the music is using the correct vocal techniques for the music! I guess I might have to expand on that, but not here, heh.
As for popular music today... I don't even want to get started - an artist's job is to bring people up to their level of intellect, not dive down into the drivel and give people what they 'want', which has sadly destroyed many possibly great artists, magazines and media companies.
And thank you, reading this really made my day. But I'd much prefer to be a bright light in a more profane world than just another bit of perfection in an already pure paradigm, haha!
