Echo the rat
Here is Echo, one of five female ratties that I'm taking care of for a friend. She loves to watch from corners of the cage. I'll have pictures of the others as I get them. :)

The last time I had a pet of my own was nearly 20 years ago, It was a guinea pig. I never had rats before. These are not my rats though, but they will be with me for at least a few months, maybe longer, if the owner ends up moving in with me. That depends on a few things though, so I can't predict how long I will actually have ratties. They are fun to watch.
I no longer have any of the rats. I didn't have room for them while trying to do repairs on my house. They all went back to their original owner, but I kind of miss them. On the other hand, I no longer need to clean their cages. Three of them used to follow me every where I went in the house, or ride on my shoulders. The other three were not as tame.
She used to be able to go upside down, hanging from the top of their cage. She, and the other ratties moved back with their owner last year, when I had to do house repairs There were five females and one male. The male and two of the females were very friendly and were out every day to play. The other females were biters or otherwise badly behaved, so they couldn't really be handled. Echo wasn't a biter, but she would run immediately if she ever got out, and was almost impossible to catch. The friendly ones used to ride in my hoodie pouch or on my shoulders, sometimes for a couple hours at a time.
