It was a quiet evening with the sun in the process of setting as Jace walked the lightly wooded path of a park near his home. Quiet, until the sudden crack and characteristic splintering sound of a falling tree broke the silence. A natural, if uncommon occurrence, except mixed in with the snapping of wood was the unmistakable pain-filled yelp of an animal.

Jogging his way towards the commotion, Jace was taken aback at what he found. Trapped beneath a rotted fallen tree was a very large bipedal canine. Though their name escaped him, Jace had seen them before on nature programs. But they were definitely not indigenous to the area, and Jace was at a loss as to how it had come to this place. Taking a closer look, Jace could see only one of the canine’s arms was partially free, and it was vainly struggling to push the tree off itself. Upon noticing Jace, the canine gave a small yelp of fear and tried to shy away, trapped though it was.
