Scott Howards was your typical teenage bully magnet, he had no real idea why he was such a magnet for trouble. But at the beach one day he found an old man that said he needed to pass along his life long companion before he died. Not knowing what the old man ment yet curious he soon found himself becoming the new life long companion of Eira the Djinn of happiness. (his or hers is up in the air) So far he has learned that each day he gets one wish and Eira will grant it so long as it meets her limitations. (basically in a nutshell is don't cause unhappiness to the whole world or destroy it)

Being sixteen and being bullied his first wish at the beach was to never be bullied again. Seems Eira has an interesting way of turning enemies into friends. Much to the relief of Scott she didn't change him at all, but Richard Balzac was transformed that day at the beach when he ran into Scott. Transformed into Rikki Balzac who seems to have more than a little crush on Scott.
