Episode 2B: Fine By Arctic (Peter).
“Jeeze, it would have been better if you just left his monsters on the field,” Bruno frowned at Andrei’s game play. Mostly, because now his Trap Card had been rendered useless because of his Partner’s turnaround moves.
“It’s not everyday we’re in the presence of all three Generals,” Andrei stuck to character, “could you blame me for wanting to see them in action?”
“Well, don’t get used to them. I draw,” Fang drew his card straight out. He became as quiet as Arctic would be. He had to come up with a plan until he could draw his ace card, Judgement Dragon.
“Fang. Remember, what you’re always telling me,” Arctic pretended to put on sunglasses, “keep it cool.”
Fang paused at Arctic’s message. Arctic wasn’t one to say anything without a reason. So there had to be a reason. Fang looked across the field. He was clearly the only person here that wasn’t “playing it cool”. On his own field was Wulf and the spirit of Goroth, both were Light-type Monsters. Fang Identified the monsters that were currently in play. Bruno only had his Prior of the Ice Barrior in play. He could tribute it to summon a bigger monster if he wanted to or use it’s effect to bring back Cryomancer and summon it a different Ice Barrier in order to activate it’s power, but then… Andrei wouldn’t be able to use any one of the three Generals of the Ice Barrier if that happened. And then there was Arctic… He only had his cute little Snow Dragon in play. And it’s ability can’t activate unless it’s… destroyed…
“Got it! Whooo-hoooo-woooo! First I play LightSworn Sabre and equip it to Wulf.” The wolf man dropped his axe in preference to the shining fencing foil that had appeared before him. He tested it out with a few graceful movements before being satisfied with it. “Now I Attack your Prior of the Ice Barrier! Shining Lobo Fencing!” Fang did a spin with a karate chop, signaling Wulf to leap forward like a musketeer. With a few shining slashes, Prior fell back in a burst of light. Now Bruno fell back with more vigor than ever. Despite that this was durring his break, he was loving this. He didn’t care if they won or lose, he was having a blast. It’d be sad if these guys went to Solitary, if they actually managed to win before the reinforcements arrived.

As Bruno stood back up, he ‘angrily’ looked at his partner, “Why didn’t one of our generals defend us?”
“Because,” Andrei really wasn’t one for role-playing right now, “they know that you should have played your monster in Defense Mode to begin with.”
“I switch Garoth to defense mode and set a card facedown.” The giant slid down to one knee, crossing his arms before a card appeared behind him. “Finally,” Fang paused to look at Arctic, “I set one Monster in Defense mode and End,” Fang paused before taking a , “Both my Garoth and Wulf don’t force me to Mill, but Glorious Illusion forces me to Mill two more, while Light Spiral makes Andrei Mill one.”
“My Realm of Light gains yet another Shine Counter and then that’s it,” Fang shrugged at Bruno. Yet another beam of light broke through the clouds above them, making the Shine Counter count 4.
“So it’s my turn to counter attack. I draw,” Bruno smiled for a moment, “you know the Generals aren’t the strongest of our forces. While the opponent controls four more monsters than I do, in this case: I control none, the wolf has three and the bear has his Snow Dragon I’m able to Special Medium of the Ice Barrier!” **
“Ha ha! I activate my Trap Card,” Fang snapped his fingers revealing his Lightsworn Barrier. A Continuous Trap that currently showed what it would look like if it was used, a giant crystal cage. “Now if you attack any one of my Face-up Lightsworn, my Trap can negate the attempt in exchange for Milling two cards.” Fang smiled at Arctic, he made certain that he said “face-up”, for his plan to work out.
“That wont be a problem. I also Remove two Water monsters from my Grave in order to Special Fenir!” A puddle of frozen water appeared in front of Bruno. A giant monster wolf shattered its way upwards landing on its feet beside Medium. Fenir was drooling uncontrollably as it stupidly looked out for any potential snacks ().
“Hey, he could be a cousin of yours,” Andrei pointed to Fang. Fang took a moment to look at the snarling drooling beast. Wulf did something similar, but spat in disgust of the very thought.
“I am still able to Normal Summon a monster and I choose to Tribute Fenir in order to Normal Summon Royal Knight of the Ice Barrier!” **(2000/2000) On Fang’s side of the field rose an icey pillar with a dark figure trapped inside. (1000/0) This monster nearly knocked Fang off his feet from it’s sudden appearance. “Did I forget to mention that when Royal Knight is summoned he also Specials an Ice Coffin Token on your side of the field? That means that you have NON-Lightsworn Monster for me to attack. Your Lightsworn Barrier wont work. Now I’ll give Medium the first attack. Destroy the Ice Coffin Token!” ** Fang fell back to the wall behind him from that aftershock. He was prepared for it this time, but it was four times stronger than the last. He really did have trouble getting up this time.
1200 Fang&Arctic :VS: Secret Guards 750
“Now we’re in the lead again,” Bruno raised a fist.
“That’s true, but you could have destroyed the Snow Dragon with Royal Knight and attack directly with Medium,” Andrei growled at his partner, not that he really minded seeing the wolf get thrown around.
“Oh, that’s right,” Bruno knocked himself on the head, “I’m too used to one on one duels.”
“Hey, no strategizing with each other,” Fang pulled himself out of the unseen wall and got back into his position, “that’s against the rules, isn’t it?”
“Why do I have the sudden urge to ‘say screw the rules’ and make a witty comment about how I have white hair,” Bruno pointed to his knight and the next target, “Royal Knight attack his facedown!” The knight raise it’s frozen saber as he marched forward. He swung downward to slash the card in half, revealing the white and gold armored canine underneath The possible wolf/husky hybrid wasn’t destroyed quite yet. He growled at the Royal Knight as he glowed in a white light.
“Have you met Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter? He really doesn’t like to be disturbed from his hiding place,” Fang shook his head, “In retaliation he destroys one monster on the field.”
“Hold It,” Andrei raised a hand towards his Generals, “General Raiho’s ability is to force you to discard a card when a Monster Effect resolves, if you don’t then the effect is negated.”
“Well, we can’t have that,” Fang gladly discarded one of his last two cards. Andrei raised an eyebrow at this. ‘With such a small hand’, he thought, ‘shouldn’t he be more remorseful for losing a card?’
“What? It’s a Wulf. It can’t be Normal Summoned. Now for Ryko’s power I destroy…,” Fang slowly swung his hand across the opponent’s field like a pendulum, Then he shot his hand at Arctic’s section, “Snow Dragon!”
“What,” the Guards shouted together. The white beast ran up to Snow Dragon. When the two collided they popped into falling snow and light bubbles.
“And now for Ryko’s three card Mill,” Fang said as he discarded from the top of his deck, stopping when he saw what it was, “Great, I just Milled my Judgement Dragon.”
“What does that do,” Bruno was worried.
“Nothing you idiot,” Andrei slapped himself in the forehead, “it’s good for us if his Judgement Dragon was sent to the graveyard. The key to his deck’s entire strategy is to Special Summon that card.”
“Right,” Fang continued to Mill his next few cards, “just don’t forget about my Light Spiral. When I Mill, you have to Mill one too.”
“But you can only activate one Spell or Trap each turn due to Medium’s Effect,” Bruno pointed at his Frozen monster.
“It doesn’t matter, because his Light Spiral is already active,” Andrei Milled his card.
“By Garoth’s effect I Mill two more and draw as many Lightsworn that I discarded. I just Milled my last Wulf, so he’s summoned and I get to draw one card,”
“Don’t forget General Raiho,” Andrei waved a hand over his monster, “you have to discard two cards or else Garoth and your new Wulf will be destroyed.”
“And then the Realm of Light had also gained two more counters due to me Milling twice,” as Fang discarded the necessary cards, his monsters each gained yet another 200 point boost. While he should have been happy, Fang sadly looked at his partner, “Losing my dragon better be worth it Arctic.”
“What is he talking about,” Andrei set his focus back on Arctic, but his only response was sending a card from his hand to the Graveyard, “What is that for?”
“Paying for Snow Dragon’s ability,” Arctic smiled. Fang was the one to explain.
“See when Snow Dragon is destroyed and sent to the graveyard then he leaves behind these niffty little things called Ice Counters. One for every monster on the Field,” Fang pointed to each individual Monster. The two Secret Guards wouldn’t have noticed it on their own monsters if Fang didn’t point it out, but each monster did have a single patch of ice on them. “Now that your monsters have attacked and your Spell/Trap zones are still Frozen. Then…”
“It’s my turn,” Arctic drew his card, but he already knew what he was going to play.
“Which means that our Spell/Trap zones are thawed out,” Bruno rejoiced at the fact.
“Enjoy it while it lasts,” Fang snickered as Arctic continued.
“I remove Four Ice Counters from all of Fang’s monsters and your Royal Knight to Special Summon my Snowdust Dragon.” The four Ice Counters shattered into a small ice storm that gathered itself around Arctic’s side of the field. A japanese style dragon made entirely of melting and freezing ice appeared and disbursed the storm with a low echoing roar. “I’ll also discard due to General Raiho…”
“But it totally worth it,” Fang spun once painfully kicking the air, “for Snowdust’s power kicks in! ow…” Fang lowered his leg back down, he was clearly injured in the last attack, but he was too stubborn to admit to it. Arctic’s Dragon bellowed it’s moanful call as Bruno’s Medium and all three Generals were suddenly frozen over themselves, They each looked shocked under all of that Ice.
“All monsters with Ice Counters are Frozen,” Arctic swung his arm as he explained, “they cannot change Modes and cannot Attack. Royal Knight still can, but not from the Grave. Attack with Frozen Surge!” The ice dragon swirled and circled its way toward Royal Knight, groaning all the way. Snowdust Dragon then burst it’s way right through Royal Knight, freezing him in place before he broke away into powdered snow.
2400 Fang&Arctic :VS: Secret Guards 50
“I End,” Arctic shot Andrei an insulting smile.
“My turn,” Andrei drew his card, “I can’t do anything with our Generals Frozen, so I’ll set a few cards instead and shift it over to Fang.” Three cards appeared behind the Generals.
“Okay, my Draw now,” Fang pulled the top card of his deck, “Oh thank God… I play Jar of Avarice! This let’s me select five Monsters in my Grave and return them to my deck. And you know One of them’s going to be my Judgement Dragon.” Fang also picked his Wulf, Ryko, a copy of Ehrin, and a second copy of Garoth. ** “Then I get to draw two new cards,” “Alright! Whoohoo-hooo Hooooo! I just drew Judgement Dragon! I still have four unique Lightsworn in my Grave so now I can Special him to the field.”
“Figured as much,” Andrei revealed his trap Disturbance Strategy, “This Trap forces the Opponent to Shuffle his hand back into the deck and redraw.”
“Hold on,” Bruno shouted at his partner, “he already said what he was going to do.”
“Whoops, doesn’t matter now,” Andrei gave an unconcerned shrug, “he’ll still have to shuffle Judgement Dragon back into his deck.”
“Fine then,” Fang shuffled his hand back in and redrew three cards, “Well, I guess that it’s for the best, because I just drew a card even better than Judgement Dragon! I tribute my Garoth in order to summon Celestria, Lightsworn Angel!” Garoth leaped high into the clouds in a burst of light. The clouds broke away in a perfect circle of ever shining light A blue haired angel descended carrying her own axe spear as a scepter. “When I Tribute summon Celestria, then I get to destroy two of yours and then Mill four. I pick Generals Gantala and Raiho!”
“You still have to discard or else Celestria’s effect will be negated.”
“I can accept that.” Fang discarded one of his cards and Milled four more before his shining angel raised her scepter and pointed at each of the designated Generals. Lighting shot out and obliterated them in a great flash of white. The seventh light broke through the clouds above, giving both his three Lightsworns a 700 point boost. “I’ll have my 3500 Wulf attack with Shining Lobo Fencing!” The sword wielding wolfman leaped into the air to defeat the last General.
“I activate Mirror Wall,” Andrei announced when he activated his trap card. It was too late to call off the attack. The shining blade reflected back at Wulf. He let out horrible cry as General Grunard delivered a counter attack in the form of an ice storm. (2450/300) vs (2800/1000) Wulf’s remains flew back. Fang was knocked off his feet.
2050 Fang&Arctic :VS: Secret Guards 50
“It’s alright,” Fang smiled as he stood back up, “Main Phase II. With General Daiho gone, I can Special Judgement Dragon without paying a cost!” Fang quickly slapped the card on the disk. Eight white lights flew out from the ground to form a giant fur covered dragon. Judgement dragon didn’t roar, but he stood tall and dignified.
“I don’t believe it,” Andrei stepped back.
“Although he doesn’t get a boost like any one of my Lightsworns would, but we wont be needing it,” Fang turned to his partner, “you don’t mind, do you?”
“Do it,” Arctic nodded.
“Whoo Aright,” Fang howled, I activate his ability to pay 1000 LIfepoint to destroy every card on the field. Shining Judgement!” Judgement took a step forward and spread his wings. The sky lit up in on gigantic flash of white light.
“I activate my Fake Trap Card,” Bruno shouted, revealing a trap that had a goblin with the word ’Fake’ written on a parchment, “This card prevents the destruction of all Trap cards!” A white light shone over all Facedowns, but also revealed the cards that they had facedown, Bruno’s Frozen Soul and Andrei’s Mirror Force. Unfortunately, the light was too bright for Fang or Arctic to actually see them.
1050 Fang&Arctic :VS: Secret Guards 50
“I sacrifice two Shine Counters to keep us in the Realm of Light. I End by Mill four cards,” Fang pointed at Andrei, “you Mill one and I get back one Shine Counter.”
“In that case, it’s my turn,” Bruno drew his card, before looking at his partner.
“I’ll take care of Judgement Dragon. You take care of their Lifepoints.”
“That’s good, because I can only really summon my Caravan of the Ice Barrier.” A walking seaserpent appeared on the field carrying several large boxes and other supplies on his back. (500/200) “When this monster is summoned, I get to return two of our comrades to the deck and we all get to draw one card.” Bruno thought it would be best to return his Defender and Medium of the Ice Barrier. When Arctic drew his card he saw that it was Elemental Hero Ice Edge. With this, Bruno could attack directly and finish them off. However, Arctic got that chill again. He knew that it wouldn’t be enough to just attack with Ice Edge. He felt like something was missing, like the Mobius that he currently had in his hand. Fang saw Arctic’s worry, but didn’t have time to say anything as Bruno continued his turn.
“I activate Double Summon, so now I can Normal Summon again this turn… when I’m ready. Now to attack!”
550 Fang&Arctic :VS: Secret Guards 50
“To finish up my move, I Tribute the Caravan to Summon Dai-Sojo of the Ice Barrier,” ** (1600/2200) “Now before you miscreants even suggest that I’m cheating, Dai-Sojo automatically shifts into Defense when he’s Summoned.”
“My move,” Arctic drew a card, his eyes widened at the card he drew. His chilly feeling had suddenly faded away. This was the card that he needed, but one question remained, “What’s Polymerization doing in my deck?”
“Someone could have gotten hold of a new card for you recently,” Fang only returned him a shrug, “who knows…”
“You didn’t,” Arctic’s eyes lit up, after he checked the compartment that contained the Extra Deck cards. Everything suddenly clicked into place in his mind, “I activate Polymerization to fuse my Elemental Hero Ice Edge with my Water-Type Cold Enchanter!” The little icesickle warrior and snow witch leaped into the air. When they reached a certain point they began to twist and swirl together. “To summon the white knight of the Elemental Heroes, Absolute Zero!” Arctic’s new monster unswirlled himself He was dressed like a majestic white knight warrior. (2500/2000)
“Absolute Zero also gains 500 points for every water monster on the field,” Fang howled one more time, “so his attack power boosts to 3000!”
“It doesn’t matter how high his attack gets,” Bruno announced, “I’ll just use Dai-Sojo to defend our remaining Lifepoints.”
“That’s also assuming my Mirror Wall wont half your monster’s attack low enough to wipe out your remaining Lifepoints,” Andrei pointed out his Trap, then Fang, “plus all we really have to do is wait until you Deck Out and take Peter down with you.”
“Why did you call him that,” Bruno stopped to stare at his partner.
“Because that’s his name,” Andrei didn’t realize his mistake yet, “what am I speaking Russian again?”
“That’s funny,” Fang cracked a smile for his own partner, “Arctic, do you recall me ever calling you by your real name?”
“Not once,” Arctic crossed his arms.
“I thought you didn’t know these guys,” Bruno looked at the other duelists, “did you let these people in here?”
“What does it matter if I know them,” Andrei angrily pointed at the furs, “it’s our job to get rid of them.”
“Not when you invite them,” Bruno lowered his duel disk.
“Hey how about we finish the Duel first,” Fang signaled for his partner, “our goal wasn’t in Summoning Absolute Zero. Right Arctic?”
Arctic grunted in a nod, “I Tribute Absolute Hero so that I may Advance Summon,” “Mobius the Frost Monarch! (2400/1000) Now he’ll destroy Mirror Wall and the Facedown Card,” The blizzard that had helped to summon this monster shot out and froze over all the cards on the Secret Guards side of the field. Andrei’s Mirror Wall and facedown froze over and shattered. The third face-down revealed itself to have been a Mirror Force as it was destroyed. Now, Arctic was satisfied with not summoning Ice Edge and quite confident with attacking directly. However, Fang felt the need to explain what had happened.
“You see when Mobius is Tribute Summoned, then he destroys two Spell or Traps on the field. However, when Absolute Zero leaves the field, for whatever the reason, then he destroys all monsters on our opponent’s side of the field.”
“Which leaves you both open for a direct attack,” Arctic swung a punch at Andrei. This signaled his cold knight to leap forward and punch Andrei into the ground. The aftershock system would usually calculate a blow like this normally. However, with only 50 lifepoints left to go up against a 2400 colossus of an attack, all that energy had to go somewhere. Arctic would make certain of that.
Before the Frost Monarch reached him (and taking his medicine like a man), Andrei pulled his Partner into a headlock. “*Translated from Russian*Call off the attack or else I’ll kill him*,” Andrei held the heirloom knife to Bruno’s throat. Mobius stopped his attack three inches from the two of them, “good…”
“*Now Andrei… you don’t want to do that*,” Arctic raised his hands.
“*Of course I don’t, but you forced me into this.*” Andrei tightened the grip on his hostage.
“*I didn’t force you into anything, Andrei. I never once asked you to do anything for me.*”
“*You abandoned me!*”
“*NO*,” Arctic angrily snapped, Andrei fell silent as the half-bear continued, “*I gave you everything Andrei. My body was nothing but a shield for you. My ears were nothing but a place for you to throw all your problems on.*”
“*You were my boyfriend, that’s what boyfriends are supposed to do.*”
“*No Andrei, Love is a two way street. You care for them, protect them from harm, not purposely throw them in harm’s way to save your own hide. When I gave you my heart, you gave me nothing!*”
Andrei’s grip loosened ever so slightly, before tightening it again, “*And I suppose that mutt of a boyfriend of yours taught you that?*”
“Fang? He is…,” Arctic turned to his partner for a moment, before focusing back on Andrei, “*He did teach me that, but Fang isn’t my boyfriend. He’s straight, always has been and will be.*”
“*Don’t deny it! I’ve seen the way you look at him! You love him.*”
“*I do love him, because he’s my friend*,” Arctic almost said this without thinking about it, “*and my Brother in Christ.*”
“*You lie…,*” Andrei smirked for just a second, “*Christians don’t accept our kind.*”
“*My ‘kind’ is human and so is yours*,” Arctic finally lowered his arms, feeling more pride for his past revelation, than fear at the moment, “*Fang knows that I’m gay, but he’s never once rejected me.*”
“*YOU LIAR*,” Andrei removed the knife from Bruno’s neck to jab it in Arctic’s direction. Bruno couldn’t understand Russian, but he knew that this was his only chance of escape. He twisted just right to flip his former partner onto the ground. He then ran as fast as his legs allowed towards the furs, knowing that he’d be safer with them than the crazy human.
Andrei, the little creep, made a dash for it the moment he recovered. Fang was fully prepared to catch up with the cos-playing human. No one could match his speed when it comes to running. In his weakened state, however, it took him a while longer to really corner the Andrei. Now they were quite high up and the ‘corner’ was the safety railing of the balcony that looked down to an aquatic exhibit. Fang had no clue where Andrei thought he was going.
“I hope you’re prepared for my Lunar Dance,” Fang shouted as he tripped Andrei up with a low spinning kick. Andrei fell on his face, but the knife flew from his hands, Fang watched it go up. Up. Up. Up towards the railing! In a split-second decision Fang leaped up to catch the knife, but both of them went Over the railing. Fang was falling headfirst into the freezing waters below.
“Frozen Terrain,” Arctic shouted as punched the waters below. The waters below froze themselves over. Fang saw this as he flipped in the air. He landed on both his feet, before skidding across the ice to a complete stop on one knee. The knife firmly tucked in his grasp. Fang huffed as he recovered from the adrenaline of the moment. Still, he thanked God that Arctic had his back. Arctic felt the same way.
“Thank you for saving me,” Bruno bowed his head at the furs, “I don’t know what you said to him, but it saved my life.”
“Yeah,” Fang lowered his head, “too bad he got away.”
“Never fear,” the head of the security for Umiiruka (dressed up by pure coincidence as Elemental Hero Absolute Zero) assured the boys, “the one known as Andrei wont be able to get very far without any of us in Duel World being able to find him and bring him to justice.”
“That’s great to hear Mr. Zero,” Fang spoke louder than necessary, he was still clutching the knife exactly as he had before. Too afraid to let it go even the slightest.
“We of Duel World apologize for the inconvenience as we will need to take that knife into our custody. It is evidence and Weapons are not allowed in Duel World.”
“But you can’t,” Andrei’s former partner tried to protest, but Absolute raised a hand.
“However, seeing as though it was tossed into the water before it,” Absolute coughed into his hand, “mysteriously froze over. Then I doubt that it will ever be found. Too bad.”
All two boys grinned from ear to ear. If someone could see under that mask of his, then they’d see that Absolute Zero was doing the same. Arctic, on the other hand, was sitting to his own thoughts. Arctic hadn’t said a word since Fang’s free fall. He was planing on the perfect words to say when he was alone with Fang again.
“Yeah, too bad,” Bruno nodded.
“Thank you,” Fang bowed, tightening his grip on the knife anyway.
“For winning the duel and your valiant efforts to catch the villain,” Absolute Zero brought his digital pad up and scanned our heroes’ ID cards, “We’re adding bonus DP for your duel and would like you to have these cards as well.”
Absolute Zero stepped aside as Bruno presented Fang with the full set of all three General of the Ice Barrier cards. Fang took them, but placed them down next to Arctic. He hopped that was all that these two wanted with them. He really needed to speak with Arctic alone. Still, Bruno had one last thing to say.
“Having all three Generals of the Ice Barrier will grant you access to one of our three secret locations located somewhere in the Ice Barrier Kingdom. If you can find one or all three, then you’ll get the chance to win much more,” Bruno rubbed the back of his head, “I know it’s not much, but it’s all I can offer. Heck, I haven’t even found the locations myself yet.”
“No. It’s alright. Really,” Fang smiled to let them know how appreciative he was, “We’re kind of used to this sort of thing.”
“Also citizens,” Absolute Zero looked to the left and right before he came in real close to whisper something. He held out a pad with a blank piece of paper and an ice sickle pen, “Would you mind? My kids love you guys.”
When the two employees finally left, Fang let go of a breath he didn’t realize he was holding. He turned to see that Arctic was getting back to his feet. Before Arctic had the chance to do anything else, Fang presented him with the sheathed knife. Arctic only stared at it, wondering if he should take it before he said what he wanted to say.
“Here’s your knife,” Fang smiled, “I got it back for you.”
“Yes, you did,” Arctic lowered his head, as he re-closed Fang’s hands, “but I am not worthy to have it. You take it.”
“But Peter,” Fang was flabbergasted, “I can’t take it from you. It’s your family’s knife.”
“Which is why I want you to have it,” Arctic’s face changed, I mean, he actually smiled as he explained himself, “I’ve wasted my entire childhood trying to get others to accept me for what… no… who I am. The day I met you, you didn’t just accept me. You brought me into a world I never knew could exist. You… and all of Nature’s Fury ARE my family.”
At this point, Arctic stopped smiling. He choked on the words he was going to say next, “And I… I love you. But not like I did with Andrei. No… I love you more than that. You make me Proud to stand by you every day of my life. I would put my life in your hands without fear.”
“Wow,” Fang took a moment to think about what was said to him, he opened his palms to admire the knife’s beautiful design, “Are you sure about this?”
“More than ever,” Arctic nodded, “Besides, it’s more of your style than mine.”
“Well I suppose it is,” Fang slipped the wolf headed knife into his boot for safe storage (for that’s where it’d go when he sent his Fursona clothes back through the mysterious portal that brought them to him, that is), “I promise to keep this safe, until you feel like you’re worthy of it again.”
“I know you will,” Arctic picked up the small case displaying the three Generals of the Ice Barrier, “Wonder where the secret areas are?”
“I don’t know… Whoo,” Fang howled for a moment, “but I’m ready to take a nap. Bet you the others aren’t doing anything as exciting as we just did.”
“We could…,” Arctic sat back down on the bench, “rest here for a little while.”
“Works for me,” Fang didn’t hesitate to accept the offer and roll himself right beside, head laying on Arctic’s shoulder, “Wow, your so warm now. I might just… *yawn* sleep… right here.” Arctic shifted in place to shift his huge arm around Fang.
“You don’t mind”, Fang sleepily asked, “right?”
Arctic nodded, satisfied with this. He knew that Fang was dense enough that he didn’t know what Arctic was truly confessing to… Still, this was fine by him. Even if they could never be “together” together, just being with Lucas like this and with everyone else was all he really wanted. Lucas was truly a brother to him. As a brother, he’d protect Lucas with his life.
Arctic was about to say this, but Fang had fallen asleep. Peter decided it was a rough few hours and he’d let the two of them (Lucas and Gabu) sleep it off. Besides, Fang’s sleeping wolf face reminded him too much of a loyal pet dog. If worse came to shove, Arctic would gladly carry Fang all the way back to the hotel. Not that it would be bad… Arctic thought to himself, “it’s fine by me.”
(Quick message from the Author: Arctic/Peter’s relationship with Fang/Lucas was designed with the idea of ‘love’ in mind. I found that (despite I don’t share the same beliefs as my partner, Anthony) we do agree about what love is. His christian theology summed up the definition in I Corithians 13. I had read it, agreed with it, was inspired by it, and so now I wish to share it. If you don’t care to know, Remember that you don’t have to read it. It states this:
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.)
