Dragons Make Everything Better
Fantasy version of Broadstairs, a sea side town in north east Kent, England. I painted this primarily as a Christmas present for my sister (printed professionally & framed).
I original started with a different view (a WIP of the original is in my scraps gallery) but I had trouble with doing the details of the real urban buildings from references, so I went for a made-up-on-the-spot location for the foreground while using the original location as a background as it's a recognizable part of Broadstairs. Also of note, I kind of missed softening the bottom of the statue. Didn't even realize it when I got it printed out - only saw that part when I was resizing the image for FA. Doh.
Broadstairs doesn't have any statues like this, but I think it's a quite good idea - a mane of flowers upon the forehead and neck, while the two trees are it's "wings".
