Feefers looked up into the soft eyes of the dragon skunk smiling lovingly, she loved her completely and totally and nothing would ever change that.
But sometimes she liked to ask anyway.
"Koku..." she'd start, "I love you, no matter what."
Koku would blush a little, it was her first serious relationship as well.
"I love you too, no matter what." She would reply.
Feefers would sigh happily and cuddle up against Koku feeling the warmth in Koku's body and the soft breath against her fur.
"Can we be together forever love?" She'd ask wiggling against her softly.
She nodded softly holding her soft puppy paws in her elegant dragonish claws.
"Of course my love, you will always be in my heart." She'd answer.
Time passed and thier love continued to grow.
But for Feefers there was something missing.
A hole that even Koku's love couldn't fill.
Koku was very sad, she'd watch as Feefers would secretly cry herself to sleep and wake up in the morning from an unspoken nightmare.
"Love... What's wrong? What's missing? It it something to do with me?" She'd worry.
Feefers blushed, she was that kind of person, she hated people feeling bad because of her.
She tried first to lie, saying nothing was wrong.
She tried then to pretend, saying everything was okay.
But in the end she told Koku what was the matter.
She loved her completely and nothing would change that.
But she needed someone to help her feel little, someone to help her be the puppy she wished to be so hard it was hurting.
Koku nodded and patpatted her on the head, "I can do that for you love."
Feefers flustered a little, she wasn't sure, she didn't think Koku would be able to, but she loved her.
Saying no would have hurt her.
So she accepted.
Time passed.
The puppy and the skunk dragon continued to grow more in love, soon they would get to be together.
But for Feefers, things were still not quite right.
She was her puppy in name only.
She wore Koku's collar proudly but there was never a leash attached, there was never a corrective tug on it; there was never any moments of being little that she was so good at giving other people.
One day, a not very special day, when rain and snow fell from the sky Feefers looked up to her owner.
"Will you love me no matter what?" She asked.
She nodded and smiled.
"I love you too..." She said smiling a little, "I want to be your puppy forever."
Koku patted Feefers softly, "You can my love."
Feefers sighed and shook her head, "No... I can't. Koku I love you, i've loved being your puppy but I just can't, I can't wait to be little with you any longer love."
Koku sniffled and started to cry, "Puppy?"
Feefers shook her head and cuddled Koku up into her lap kissing softly, "Ssssh it's okay... I just concentrate on being your mommy forever."
Koku whimpered more, "B..but will that make you happy though?"
Feefers smiled softly nuzzling close offering his collared neck to her, "Of course, I love you completely Koku. No matter what."
Koku sniffled and slid the collar off, only for Feefers to take it from her paws.
"This is a symbol of your love for me, i'm never going to get rid of it." She said slipping it on around his wrist.
Koku smiled at least a little at that as Feefers beamed lovingly back at her holding her close and tight.
"One day," Feefers thought to herself; perhaps lying again, perhaps pretending, she was no longer sure how true it was now; "I'm going to be the little puppy people think I deserve to be. One day for sure. But just quite yet."
