Lo Wang is Shadow Warrior
"Whoooo wanted some Wang? Aaaah yes, I see you ready for action! I like that! Learn well my son. It is natural to die. Mass destruction is my thing! BANZAI! Hey you! Yes you! I am the Shadow Warrior! Lets fight. What you waiting for huh? I am everybody's worst nightmare. Now, let's fight!"
This is a fanart of Lo Wang the shadow warrior, the main character of Apogee/3D Realms's old fps Shadow Warrior for ms-dos from 1997. Yes, from the makers of Duke Nukem-series. Shadow Warrior used the same build-engine that Duke Nukem 3D used, except improved. That's why the game was pretty similar to DN3D. It's main character Lo Wang also was a bit similar to Duke Nukem as he said all kind of naughty and silly one-liners. But whereas Duke is being surrounded by beautiful ladies all the time, Lo Wang is not as lucky even though he is really after them too. The game itself was also innovative at it's time as it included weapons with alternative firing options, sticky bombs that can stick onto enemies (yes, just like plasma granades later in Halo), vehicles that can be rode freely in the levels, and climbable ladders for the first time in first person shooters. Shadow Warrior was one of my many favorite games when I was younger, alongside with the three first Duke Nukem-games, Doom 1 and 2, Heretic, Hexen, Warcraft 2, Heroes of Might and Magic, Monkey Island, original Prince of Persia, etc. But unfortunately Shadow Warrior didn't become as big success as Duke Nukem 3D, as it looked really outdated compared to Quake 1, Quake 2 and Hexen 2 from id Software that had full 3D graphics.
I got to use a drawing table again at work and I decided to draw this fanart of Lo Wang as I've wanted to draw some fanarts of some of my favorite games, both old and new ones. And I wanted to do this picture as I started to replay Shadow Warrior again and I also found doing this appropiate as this game was just recently released at gog.com with it's expansions. http://www.gog.com/gamecard/shadow_.....rrior_complete
