My cousins told me there was a part in one of the neverwinter nights games they hated. where you where forced to kill a poor starved and cute voiced Mimic to progress the story line. It had been eating fake gems and was starving to death and wasn't mean at all was just "Me Eat Gems!"
they got mad that there was no way to get past without killing it and quit playing.
