The Conspiracy - FurFright 2011
The number of Furry conventions is growing, as is the Furry presence in the mainstream of society. Films, stories, TV and other media more willing to feature furry characters, stories, and topics.
But what if there is more going on in those conventions than simple gatherings of fans and fursuits? What if the furs were real? What larger agenda might they be hiding behind the guise of mascots, scritches, and anthro-artwork?
Welcome to the Conspiracy!

The best thing is, so much of this one is really happening today. Not from a mythical bunch of critters "hiding" within the fursuits and fans at a convention. But from "real world" furs. That scene of Dogbomb greeting the lady in the wheelchair is from the tales of his own "exploits", getting out and about in suit among the folks in CA. And folks at the Ren Faire routinely invite the "Rawr Dragon", Scabrous, to pose in their family pictures at the Faire.
Like the wuffy says above, when you can get used to the fact that a 6 foot talking dog is sharing a beer with you at some local bar near the beach, whats a few minor things like skin color or sexual orientation compared to that?
*snugs* Instead of wuffy writing more about this one, we furs just need to keep living the examples, and spreading the Conspiracy! *grins*

Wow, great work! I really enjoyed your writing.
You have excellent pacing and wide vocabulary. Nicely done.
This is what a convention feels like for me; it is almost a conspiracy,
and the humans in and around the venue are the targets.
I love to sit on the sidelines between fursuit outings and
watch the interactions and the smiles. It's a treat to be part of this group!

Thank you very much for those kind words, and thank you also for your permission to use Dogbomb in this story! This wuff is honored for your trust not to abuse him in Vargr's writing. *snugs*
Your's is no small inspiration behind this tale. Your journal stories of your interactions among the public of the piers and bars and other venues during your outings triggered the concept of a greater "conspiracy" among a gathering of fantasy beasts 'hiding' within the halls of a furry convention. A sort of "underground" of the 'real' beasts of myth and imagination, blending in with the fandom, taking their opportunity to advance the cause of tolerance and acceptance from within the fandom's ranks.
You probably recognized the wheelchair scene in this wuffy's stories from your own journals. Your description of that moment hit this wuff so hard, that Vargr just had to feature it here once more to help spread its light. Thank you!
Vargr can just see you, sitting and "people watching" in the lobby and the halls and grounds of a convention. This wuff has never had the joy of attending one for himself, but the photos and stories of those who do have offered a virtual glimpse into those events. And there are enough of those 'special moments' among those postings to know that the "conspiracy" is alive and well, and in full swing around the world.
Viva la Conspiracy!

Wuffy's very happy that you liked it! Vargr likes bellies too! *grins* That fact that wuff possess one of considerable girth is proof of that. *chuckle*
It was an honor to be able to use Dogbomb, K'Gra, Scabrous, Belic, and the other "cameos" in this. And wuffy is grateful to the furs who gave permission for their appearance. ,
