A new PFC, fresh on the sand, finds help from a surprising quarter.

Inspired by the "midnight trucker" ghost stories, of a big rig driver that gives a stranded traveler a lift - and the reception that traveler receives at the truck stop where they're dropped off.

Vargr blended the old trucker's tale with the FurFright War Dogs theme, and the plight of those noble canine companions, and this story was born. A slightly grittier feeling than Spirits, but much of the same theme.

This was a second submission for the conbook that year, but FurFright only had room for one, and Spirits was chosen.
