I hadn't realized that my wife had brought the camera out with her when we sat out giving out candy. She dressed in her Renaissance cloak to help keep warm, while I of course was in suit. This is the only picture she took though as one of the braver girls decides to give me a hug!
It was a mixed reaction to my suit. Some kids were too frightened to come near me even when I had the candy bowl. One little girl, she couldn't have been more than two or three, ran right up and hugged me (not this one). Several adults wanted their picture taken with me, and one parent wanted to get a picture of me and their two kids on either side; they weren't as eager about it, but I was a good rat and so they overcame their trepidation. I had one teenage girl say, "Oh a rat, ick!" but lots more say really nice things. I got called "Mr. Mouse" a few times. One person even asked me where I got the costume.
And it was cool enough that I didn't have any trouble with the temperature. It was a blast even if I was quite exhausted and ready to get back out of suit as soon as Trick or Treating was over.
But at least I have this memento of my first time suiting outside of a con! Huzzah!
And yes, the vacation pictures will be coming soon.

There were a lot of cool and classic style Halloween costumes running around that day. It was a lot of fun to see. Even two Elephant costumes (both for girls). I was bent down a lot for the little kids, and for holding out the candy dish. It seems just the perfect pose for a rodent sitting on his haunches like that.

And that kid is dressed is like a cat! This reminds me of the time you were pretending to be scared of the little girl whose yarn ball you were "after" back at AC.
Assassin's Creed is an unusual place to find you, and so is the Air Conditioning, I'm not sure why you or a little cat girl would be at either.
Hehehe, real adorable.

If anybody ever came to our house on Halloween, I would definitely do that, but.... yeah The best time I ever had fursuiting was October last year for "Boo at the Zoo"... kids are the most adorable things ever!
By the way I really like your suit! For some reason I keep thinking it's a fullsuit and you're just wearing clothes which is kinda weird because I should be able to recognize a partial when I see one. But I didn't at first. Which is weird. And I guess that's a compliment. Anyway, awesome!

That zoo event sounds like a good one for kids and fursuiters! And yeah, they have such an interesting variety of reactions, you never know how it will go!
I love this suit. My friend who made it really did a phenomenal job. That it looks like a fullsuit with clothes on is a great compliment, thank you! I am looking forward to getting back into it in March when I go to my one of two cons a year. And one day I'll get a picture of me in suit with my little girl.

I've only gone to Midwest Furfest (in Chicago) in 2011 and 2012, because I live close enough to drive in and out every day. I definitely want to go to at least one more con this year, though I'm going to have a lot of trouble deciding. Right now Anthrocon is a possibility, but I don't really want to take that drive, so I'm thinking of something closer (either FCN in Detroit or IndyFurCon in Indianapolis). I'm going to have to ask people what they'd suggest
Actually, Furnal Equinox and Condition: Blue are both future possibilities because I have relatives in Kitchener and I could probably stay with them. I'd like to try attending a smaller con, 'cause MFF is pretty huge. (That's another reason I'm considering not going to Anthrocon... but it's such a hard decision because I know whatever I choose will be awesome!)

Anthrocon is pretty huge. I live nearby so it is very easy for me to attend; but if it were somewhere that required me to travel I probably wouldn't bother.
Furnal is getting bigger, but it's still a very personable con for me. I'm actually friends with several staff members which makes things easier (the con chair has bunked at my place for the last two Anthrocons); I could hardly not go to his con!
I was thinking about trying to get to another convention later this year, but that was before I had a little girl in my life. Now I'll just stick to the two and enjoy them to their full.

AC is a lot of fun, no doubt about it. It was also my first furry convention too. It was a little depressing the first couple of years because it took a long time before I ran into anybody I knew, but now I never have that problem there.
*chuckles* With the baby here I may not have anybody over here this year. Don't know yet!

The first time I went to MFF (two years ago) I spent less than hours there and by the end of it I was BORED.... but the second time I went (last year) I spent about 50 hours in the hotel and I didn't get to do HALF the stuff I wanted to do
And yeah, didn't expect you to say yes but either way I should try to get to know you first

I have never been able to do all the stuff I want to do ay any con; it's all about doing some things one year and then doing some other stuff the next. Changing it up and making the most of the time. Since my fursuit is still relatively new, I will definitely be doing a good bit of that at FE this year.
And I figured you knew that, I just wanted to let you know that I'm going to be a lot more selective in the near future. But I do very much hope that we will get to know each other!

I absolutely love the rodent magnetism! That made be grin and chitter (I do that in real life) when I read it.
The alien bot is cute and all, but I do encourage you to give into the Rat more and more.
It's amazing how intelligent conversation can occur online, even when I have a baby in my arms! She is laying here staring at the screen. Furry is going to totally be normal for this little one. Of course I wonder how she'll react to seeing her Daddy in his fursuit.
And yes, I am delighted to be having such a conversation with you. Thank you.

Rats seem to be really good at sticking together- I've seen it a lot more in the rodent world than in, say, canines or something. But yeah, I'm more rat than anything else right now, and I like it that way!
Sometime when your baby's older, you should take her to some room somewhere that has about a thousand stuffed animals in it and hide in it in fursuit. I have no idea where such a room might exist but oh my god all of a sudden I REALLY want to find it!!!

Well, there are so many canines in the fandom that they actually have subcultures based on the type of canine they are. For us rodents... there's just enough of us that we are noticed and it's not unusual to run into one, but we are still uncommon enough that we like to stick together.
LOL! That's an amusing idea! Who knows what kids would do when the really big rat comes to life!!

I should try using my
Chase_Kangaroo a bit more to see what the kangaroo community is like. From what I've seen, there isn't as much of a community with roos, but maybe I just haven't looked for it enough.
Anyway, anything that involves fursuits and kids is automatically amusing!

I recall back in the very early days of the net there was a Roo Crew website that tried to build a community amongst Roos. But of course that is ancient history now. Not being a kangaroo myself, I am not sure how much of a kangaroo community there is. But there sure ought to be one! I know there are kangaroos in the fandom!
I love playing with kids while I'm in fursuit. They have such an interesting range of reactions!
