Samhain 2012: the Black Rabbit of Inlé
When I first read "Watership Down" in the early 1980's, I was blown away. To this day, it remains one of my favorite novels sitting alongside "the Lord of the Rings", Kim Stanley Robinson's "Mars" trilogy, and Anne McCaffrey's "the White Dragon". And, really, what better way to celebrate Hallowe'en, to welcome the Samhain season, than to carve the likeness of the Black Rabbit of Inlé into a pumpkin?

read the books. don't think i've ever seen the movies. my dad loved watership down. i don't know if the movie was made when he was still alive, (he died in 1991) because i don't know when the movie was made at all. same goes for the last unicorn. i shudder to think how the movie industry would butcher robinson's mars series if they every made one. (what they did with dune wasn't THAT bad, dispite several inaccuracies, and mashing abreviated versions of the first half of one book together with the last half of another)
i didn't like their treatment of do androids dream of electric sheep either, although we can remember it for you wholesale came out pretty good.
(i thought blade runner thoroughly deserved gallacci's send up he called bad rubber)
