Yeah. I misspelled the name from the movie, but I did find in my German-English dictionary that "Bucher" also translated to a "Bookish" or studious person. Good to know the correct word means "Glue." I think I might just use that.

According to that link, Blucher does not mean glue. It's just a gag and nothing more.

Well, to be precise, "Bücher" is simply the plural of "Buch". Blücher was actually a Prussian field marshal who fought against Napoleon - and had a boot named after him.

actually, a "Bucher" is a booker. a studious person, especially those with their noses buried in books are commonly referred to as "Bücherwurm" (bookworm).

At an electronics trade show in San Jose last month, little "Segway" like devices which looked like i-Phones on two wheeled pogo sticks would tool around the developer's site and "Inform" (Read "Annoy.") customers and clients about the new products and services the i-Communication company was offering.

Have you listened to the commentary track? Apparently, they had a hell of a time getting through that scene because everyone on the set kept breaking up when Marty Feldman attacked Madelaine Kahn's fox stole. :)

Sigh... Unfortunately it's a known fact that it usually takes about three to five years for folks to get "Totally moved in" to a new place. I have boxes sitting in my apartment and in the garage that haven't been unpacked for two years. Unfortunately I also have boxes in storage that haven't seen the light of day since 2006.

True, and I'm just entering year two. Also, it was a sudden move out, unplanned. No packing orginization, just pack and move as much a day as I could till it was moved, meaning it got piled anywhere there was room in the new place.

Interesting. Do you mean they leave in the original dialog and sound effects as before the film is edited? There's a "Feature" on the DVD I have which shows deleted scenes and missing dialog. The one snippet which shows how the actors felt about working with each other was the "Wrap Parade"where the actors in the final filmed scene walk past the camera singing or giving the film crew "Off Color" comments. From what I understand, this is a Hollywood Film tradition, and a great way for the cast and crew to "Blow off a little steam" and collectively say, "Thank Goodness THAT'S over."

not like that. it depends if the dialogue and overall sound effects are on separate levels, but most often it sounds wrong being transformed from NTSC to PAL. or vice versa. XD
in most cases they have to create the noises as well as the dialogue.
Except Christopher Lee, who speaks all relevant languages fluently with little accent. so he went and overdubbed himself in the Last Unicorn animated. :)

what I meant was that usually a DVD contains also the original tone in whatever language they did it. :)

german movies with outtakes are very rare. can't think of any off the top of my head, really. maybe our producers are too perfectionists to allow people to behold that not everything is perfect...

Aha. Now I understand. I wonder if the conversion would have to be done with all movies dating back to the early 1990s before the PAL system was developed?

I remember US and brits series having that definite feel (lighting/atmosphere) to them. so there is a way around, but there is also certainly a loss in quality. not that I know much about that. :)

Aha. Yes, many of my German speaking friends have pointed that out, but originally I was just making fun of the dialog in spelling it out phonetically. It was a sort of "Happy Accident."
