While Phenal used to be affable before becoming a wererat, since being infected, he has become reserved, apathetic, and sometimes rather insensitive. Ironically, even though he has the ability to change into a wererat, he feels that the world has become a boring place, and must go to great lengths in order to feel excitment. This results in Phenal being unstable emotionally, being calm in one moment and snaping the next. The instances of great emotion, however, are times when he feels less ennui, discontent or weariness.
