So this is a pretty interesting series and it's fascinating to hear something from the viewpoint of a person struggling with this problem, but I feel that this therapist is really being reckless. He's essentially legitimizing Birch's continuing relationship with Wally, which is kind of like telling a recovering drug addict it's a good idea to get a job at a crack house. Sure, resisting temptation might demonstrate how strong he'd become, but much of recovery is avoiding unneccessary temptation and, especially in a situation like this where the consequences of a lapse would be severe and lifelong, it's almost criminally negligent to put yourself in that situation. By not discouraging this, this therapist is doing a huge disservice both to Birch and to Wally.
