Greetings everyone! Been a while since I uploaded anything I know, been really busy, but this week I got the time to work on finalizing quite a few life counters I had saved up over the last few months! I was shocked to find I had 8 all ready to go! (the 8th one will show up later when I finish it's "friends")
All of these counters are up for sale on my Etsy
http://www.etsy.com/shop/TigressGraphics
Get them while you can!
Note: Even though this says batch#3, you will not find other compiles like this in my gallery, batch#2 will be uploaded later (all were sold at cons anyway)
Note#2: Expects swamps and Mountains in the next batch (when ever that ends up happening, maybe Christmas?)
Note#3: the "Mana Counter" was actually made with 14 of those annoying Innistrad checklist cards, used to keep track of your transform cards ;)
____________________FAQ___________________
- How many cards does it take?
It takes at least 12 cards to be a working abacus, but I like to stick with 14, feels good in the hand and gives a great range of depth.
- How annoying is it to get 14 of the same card?
So far, it's just a little time consuming going through 7 boxes of land that we already have. But we keep them by color so it's not that hard.
- I have man hands and don't want to break it!
Seriously, you could drop the thing on the floor and there should be no problems! Each one weighs less then a D20 (no joke,) and are so rock hard that you could only really maybe scratch the edges and bring out a little of the white underneath the print. Even the design work like branches that hover above the background become very ridged with the glue used. But working the beads could take a little getting use to. One of the cards in your hand makes a great pick.
- How long does each one take?
If I took a guess, maybe 3-5 hours each not counting the drying time. I've not timed myself properly because it's just a hobby I do on the side of other happenings.
- Are you selling them?
Yes, I do sell them at either conventions or on my Etsy shop. http://www.etsy.com/shop/TigressGraphics
- Do you make customs?
Right now this is JUST a hobby and don't plan on taking any direction commissions or on demand orders in the near future. I draw and sew for business now, this is a hobby, I would like to keep loving it. Also, with customs comes the demand for a specific piece of artwork, and that is more then I want to delve into myself.
- What if I have the cards already and want to get a commissions?
Save those and we can talk later on about what I'm doing. I might have you mail me the cards plus a few spares for "oopsies."
- Can you do ANY card?
I will do more then land for sure! BUT! Not ALL cards can be made into 3D objects and make sense.
- Hey, I have a TON of land I was going to toss, do you want it/buy it?
Donations I can't really say no to and would pay the shipping; buying is another matter. You can check with me, but chances are, I'm not looking to acquire more anyway be it donation or buying.
- Have you ever thought about mixing cards?
As in, I take a planes for a background and maybe use a forest in the foreground? Yes, I have thought about doing that, but it can be much harder to do, also I like to make sure the original artist's name is visible, and I would have to splice the background one to the front. I'm an artist. I don't want my name to disappear, so I respect other artists! :D

I would have to look at it again, but seeing as I did a Boros Garrison once, I'm sure I could make the Izzet if I collected enough of them.

I am looking forward to going around to one of my favorite card shops to see if they are breaking fatpacks and selling the land bundles of the RtR set :3
As for commissions, this is a hobby right now, something I do for fun when I feel like playing with knives around my friends while I await my turn. I'll take requests, but I really don't want to start committing to make them for people because really, the amount of work I put in them is worth more then what I sell them for, and I don't want to deal stress that comes with commissioned work.
If you want to link me an image of your favorite land in this new set you want to see made, I might contact you with first chance to grab it if I find I can/do make it into a counter.

The land I really like is this one:

If you think it's possible to do it and you do, I would love to pay for it.

So, if you had two lands illustrated by the same artist, and both in sufficient quantities, you could potentially create a really awesome dual color life and mana counter...
these are really neat, I've directed some of my friends who play M:tG to this submission. ^_^

You are awesome! =D Thank you <3
And to answer your question: ideally if I found two different lands by the same artist that would work together, that would be awesome! I'll be keeping my eye out for pieces by Rob Alexander for this kind of mix, because so far just about all the lands he has made work for cutting, and he's got some awesome pieces to work with.
