The only weapon I've ever shot in this firepower class is my dad's .30-06 deer rifle. I can't say it was very pleasant though, because;
1- It's barrel is a bit shorter than a typical .30cal rifle.
2- It's a lot lighter than a typical deer rifle.
3- It spend most of it's 60+ years sitting atop it's foam rubber buttpad, causing it to become ineffective.
The result is BRUTAL recoil, so bad that I could only fire 6 rounds off one shoulder, and 6 from the other. I couldn't lift my arms above shoulder height without excruciating pain for nearly a week.
Though on the plus side, my dad surprised me by shooting a perfect bulls-eye from that rifle at 100 yards --- and it doesn't have a scope!

I found that, shooting the rifle in the picture from prone, the kick was brutal. Standing up and kneeling, I had no problem as I could let the recoil flow through me like the force through yoda...
But my collar bone is still smarting from the twenty rounds I put through it (And a similar number of .303 I put through an SMLE) from prone...
