(Is there a particular term for an artistic showcasing of how a character progressed throughout different versions at different chronological stages? I tentatively propose the term "chronological character ensemble" in this case...)
So, if you only knew me recently, you wouldn't know that Wisteria, or Wist, has been my alternative character for close to 5 years now - and boy, has she changed a lot.
Grovyle had been my favourite Pokémon even before Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky - which is by far one of the best Pokémon games out there. The original Wisteria, back in 2007, was similar to any other Grovyle, though she love to wear her purple jacket.
The second Wisteria rendition was done in 2009 - when I was starting to become seriously interested in anthropomorphics and furries. Hence the change in character.
Not pictured are the "human" transitions that existed in between, uncanonical to a fanfic that I wrote back then, of which I basically lost perseverance in. Since the human versions of Wist are just basically betas, I have no reason to show them - besides I found out that drawing humans are boring in my opinion. *ducks artillery barrage of hate*
The third official rendition of Wist was when I decided to break from my interest in Pokémon, given my distaste in the 5th generation of Pokémon. Hence, I decided to turn Wisteria into a Wellington Green Gecko. This was when I started to flesh out her personality - somewhat cold, appraising, and snappy on the outside, but in the inside, she's an emotional girl at heart.
The fourth, and latest rendition of Wist was when I began to be fascinated by venomous snakes from watching one too many kung fu movies. This was also the time when I officially became a furry in the eyes of others at several meetups. Similar personality to the third Wist, and all that.
Last words, I have to say I really enjoyed working on this chronological character ensemble of sorts - I had to revisit some of my old artwork to check out the colours, but other than that, it was a lot of fun.
