Eventually (after the events of the story), Daniel invents a device for getting around. He attaches two curved sticks to his arms with straps, and the ends of the sticks have pads on them. The pads create enough friction with the ground so that he can pull himself forward on them. This allows him to "walk," so he doesn't have to crawl around all the time. (He still needs someone to adjust the straps occasionally.)

Daniel was a young human warrior who was far from home and more vulnerable than he realized. One day, he got on a monster's bad side, and he was magically cursed, becoming a monster himself. His body was transformed from the shoulders down, and he became a slug-like hybrid creature. This wreaked havoc on both his self-esteem and his ability to perform basic tasks. The former is improving now that he lives with humans again, but the latter will always be a problem.
Sorry I didn't encrypt it, but the algorithm increases the size of each string to a perfect square, so it only works well for single sentences.
