The breed standard for temperament has Cardigans as a little better temperament than Pembrokes; not that they aren't cute or sweet, but the Cardigan has it in the standard. Based on the markings and coloration combined with the fact that it has little to no tail, you've drawn yourself a Pembroke.
Agreed, though both breeds have lovely temperaments. The best way I heard it put was if there was a party for corgis, the Cardigan would be the host, making sure everyone was having a good time, and the Pembroke would be the one running around with a lampshade on his head.
I wholeheartedly endorse this example, as I have a Pembroke and my best friend has a Cardigan. Yes, they are really like that!

Oh my god, the party analogy is hilarious. I actually considered getting a Pembroke for a while, but now I have a husky/shepherd mix and a chow/shiba inu mix though I would consider getting a Cardigan.
Another thing to add on to my previous comment, it also depends on the gender. Females tend to be a little sweeter and more affectionate than males, though a male may be more loyal and easier to train.

My Pembroke is a male, and yes, he is very loyal. The breed as a whole is VERY easy to train, but they're stubborn. They're not the "people pleasers" for the sake of pleasing, like a Golden Retriever, but rather driven to work. Corgis are a herding breed, so they like to have jobs. They're highly intelligent, and can out-stubborn a lot of folks. Corgis also tend to be food-driven. Mine is. He'll do anything for a treat. But they're also a fun-loving breed and are very social, so they're good with families and children. Mine loves kids, even though we don't have any.
It's true that between the genders, there's some differences, but it also varies per individual dog. I've met female Corgis who were sweet and gentle, but I've also seen some that were pushy and demanding and not very cuddly. My male is very sweet tempered and cuddly with people and cats, but he doesn't care for other dogs, especially other male dogs. He'll pick a fight if he gets a chance, and he's been neutered since he was young, so it's not hormones. He just doesn't like other dogs. But he loves cats and kids. Go figure.
