This was based on a idea I had for a game. It was a Europa Universalis 3 game, but instead of being set in a historical world, it was set in a fantasy world, allowing you to literally make the history of a nation. Basically, random events, as well as your own efforts of change and such could lead to things such as a Republic turning to a Theocracy or so forth, even to a point of changing the religions of the nation as well as trying to turn the country into a tech power house.
The world had a sort of underground religion, that while shunned by most, their cultists prove very useful. This one is from the Cult of Malice, worshipers of the demon/titan(beings who first made the cosmos and the world) god Malice. If you allow the cult to spring up, it will cause some unrest, but youll be able to build buildings/units specifically from said cult. If you really want to, you could eventually lead it to having your state religion being changed to worshiping the Titans if you so wish(Or if you really want, turn the state towards secularism).
The warrior monk here was once a bandit who was captured by the cultists. He surrendered to them and spared his life, feeding him while in captivity. Finally he turned over to their faith and joined their ranks to seek repentance for his old life style.
He has no possessions save his weapon and beads. The gold used to pay the cultists largely goes into feeding and arming, with anything left being put to future plans and projects.
