Thinking about a possible character design. I saw a picture of a shirt that looked like the flag of South Africa, and it was way too neat to pass up.
South Africa's flag is my favorite flag of any country in the world, because it uses six colors but still alternates light and dark. (The UK is my second-favorite. The USA is third; that one looks better if it's big enough to see the details.)
