(If you like this picture you can COMMISSION ME!)
(First of all, anyone wondering how to pronounce "Coline", it's just the more exotic spelling of the name "Colleen". Go with that. Otherwise, full view the image!)
Suggestions from my husband always involves crossovers, always. Granted when this particular one came up in conversation he never dreamed of me taking it as far as I did. Basically what it was, was the idea of placing my Mewthrees (http://fav.me/d4j9c60 shows 6 of them here, with their actual proper appearances) and platformers, specifically those of Mario. It has come up from time to time to put them in video games, but not quite the way it went here. The idea was to rescue the Princess based entirely on how my cast of characters work together. So here we have:
Princess Peach/Toadstool - Mewblade (love interest of Coline, usually in distress but never the damsel).
Bowser/King Koopa - Swadeaqua (evil controlling sister who literally wants Mewblade all to herself. Can we say bad 80's look?).
Magikoopa - Vita Sanguinence (actually not evil).
Chain Chomp - Vicebane (he bites... a lot. Also spits acid).
Boo - Demisewan (she literally is a ghost-type Pokemon, and my little 'boo').
Bullet Bill - Harddense (hard head, not much else to say).
Toad - Eevee (perfect little friend/companion to both Mewblade and Coline, and ever so loyal.)
Mario - Coline (love interest to Mewblade, and totally all-out eager to rescue the princess. Been a while since I've drawn the child version of her.)
Talk about extreme crossover, I think Mewblade only lost an energy cannon where almost everyone lost limbs. Completely, insanely dorky concept and if you do know my characters it's probably going to be the weirdest thing you've ever seen, or just that stupidly hilarious. Deciding to use this troop for this and melding the bodies was probably the biggest stretch ever, and frankly, it's kind of amusing. One thing I don't like is all their desaturated colors. Doesn't work for a Mario game but wasn't going to change it either.
Straight CG (minus a scanned gesture guide so I'd get the placement sort of right). Took a long while mostly since I was being extremely particular about the shading, expressions and dealing with a large portion of character types I normally don't encounter. The image is still a loud conglomerate of colors, akin to the Wii video game covers from the Mario series. Wasn't going to fight it, wasn't going to hate it either. At least it's something with my characters, it's cute, colorful and fun, even if it still contains concepts that aren't wholly mine. Sometimes I forget that I can do stuff like this.
(Five Mewthree pictures in a row, and not the same Mewthree featured in any of them. Hope the Mewthree group doesn't get sick of the constant amount of work I throw into it.)
