As the admin for The Mewthree Townside on deviantArt I ran a contest for the the best designed Mewthrees. Of the top three winners they would get prizes as well as a drawing of the winning Mewthrees. Last up, is the deviant Dragonith http://dragonith.deviantart.com/ .
This one took third place mostly for its unique but not distracting details. I believe this design was more or less considered the falling off point between average complexity and too simple. Of the three winners, its probably the most modern, Gen 5 looking of them. The actual design was suppose to represent dark matter which sort of is confusing to interpret between say, the Sugimori style (so many people were so obsessed with this style, yet I have no idea why) and other styles between say the anime and custom ones. For the most part, that didn't fault it since by Pokemon standards either it meant the black spacy stuff was invisible, or that the black spacy stuff could be rendered as black. I took that a bit differently here.
Easiest one to draw and shade by far, well, at least for me. Did my usual space render stuff (Noise is so versatile in Photoshop) and then went for transparency and minimal shading where needed. Still probably should have made the dark matter more invisible, but then that might be a bit too odd.
