There's still nobody who knows what did that to him. At least, nobody who's willing to talk to the police about it.
Although his large, grey, slimy body was rampaging uncontrollably through the library, the hair on his head - as well as the discarded clothing on his back - was a clear indicator that this monster used to be a human. He had family, friends, everything; but now, it was all being held hostage inside the grotesque creature he had become. I knew I wouldn't be able to kill him.
I looked in his eyes. I wanted to see if there was any sign of consciousness.
He looked back at me, and he stopped.
He was breathing heavily. It seemed like something had triggered his intelligent mind to re-awaken.
Now that he was fully aware of what had happened to him, he was no longer a threat to others. He was, however, miserable. I encouraged him to go to sleep. That gave us time to get an antidote from the campus hospital, which we administered while he was still sleeping.
When he woke up, back in his human form, he was distraught. I assured him that he hadn't harmed anyone - the police had quickly quarantined him - but it took a few minutes before he believed me.
In the coming weeks, everyone sent him cards, and generally supported him. They knew it wasn't his fault.
