The lights were dim in the darkened lounge showroom where patrons sat at tables ordering drinks from the passing waitresses. The gentle thrum of a large bass guitar echoed off the walls and set a calming rhythm about the room. The door opened slowly, the eyes of a few patrons drawing to the entering pair. A gray furred wolfox and an albino tiger strode casually into the room, both wearing dress casual clothes to match the atmosphere of the lounge. They were quickly seated at a table and the vixen waitress took their drink order with a wink.
“Vodka straight.” said the tiger simply.
“I’ll take a ginger ale please.” replied the wolfox.
“Be right back fellas.” she cooed as she turned to leave, flicking her tail playfully across the table.
“Not many people order Ginger Ale at lounges you know.” said the tiger male.
“What can I say Aitora? I’m not much of a drinker.” said the wolfox dismissively looking around.
“I still can’t believe you got an invitation to “Evening Star” Sly. This is the newest lounge around.” said the tiger.
“Thank Sakura. She got the invite. Apparently the bass player up there also plays violin in the city’s orchestra and does lounges for fun. She’s not feeling well tonight after trying to teach Pearl a new recipe last night, but she said to take a friend and enjoy.” explained Sly.
“I hope she’ll be okay.” said Aitora concerned.
“Don’t worry. Pearl’s getting a bit better at cooking. Sakura’s getting sick for shorter periods of time as of late.” said Sly half jokingly. Aitora smirked at the joke before the waitress returned with their drinks. Again the vixen left with a wink to both males as they left the cash for the drinks on her tray. “Do you think she does that to every customer?” asked Sly amused.
“She’s just trying to get a bigger tip.” said Aitora in response.
“Heh, with an attitude like that I wonder what kind of tip she’s after.” mused Sly with a smirk that made the tiger almost choke on his drink. Both males looked up suddenly as the lights all but went out suddenly, a spotlight turning on and shining on the stage next.
The bass guitar’s thrum began to turn into a faster rhythm as a white furred leg peeked out from behind the curtain, the bare foot paw with the blue ring of longer fur around the ankle and snowflake marking drew Sly and Aitora’s attention very quickly. They followed the shapely leg all the way to the end of a light green dress that ended just above the knee. They both gulped a little audibly as a bit more of the owner of the leg showed herself through the curtain. Onto the stage stepped a white furred feline, she wore a green dress that showed her lithe figure well and left her snowflake markings on her left midsection visible. Long dark blue hair flowed behind her past a ring of long blue fur in a small mane around her neck as she stepped up slowly to the center of the stage. Her bright green eyes glinted in the spotlight as she looked over the small crowd, the microphone barely visible behind her long hair.
“Presenting for your listening pleasure tonight, a woman who is as much a treat for the eyes as she is for the ears. Miss Floe…” came a soft voice on the speaker as the bass and beat switched up to one Sly recognized instantly, his ear twitched as he smiled to himself.
The feline began to tap her foot softly to the beat of the rhythm. After a moment, she smiled to herself as she stepped forward to the end of the small stage, tail swishing behind her as she began to sing. “Never know how much I love you…Never know how much I care…” she started as she stepped off of the stage and walked over to the first table. “…When you put your arms around me…I get a fever that’s so hard to bear. You give me fever…” she continued as the spotlight followed her every move, illuminating all the subtle motions she made, from her swaying motions as she walked from table to table, to the slight flicking of her tail tip as she moved around the patrons. Sly took a sip from his ginger ale and watched, his foot tapping with the rhythm of the beat. Aitora smiled as he enjoyed his own drink, taking in the show.
The female feline moved swiftly through the room, occasionally stopping at tables to get a little close to the patron. One slipped a quick bill out for her, which she sensually took between her teeth before moving on, never missing a rhythm, or skipping a beat. She came to Sly and Aitora’s table, and her eyes lit up a little when the light illuminated the table. She moved in front of Sly first, twirling around him as she continued singing. “Romeo loved Juliet…Juliet she felt the same…When he put his arm around her…He said Julie baby you’re my flame. Thou giveth fever…” she said as she wrapped her arms around his neck from behind, almost purring the last part into his ear. She spun around and plucked the fedora from the wolfox’s head and motioned for him to stand with her. As he did so, his eyebrow raised he got a face full of felt as she pushed his hat back into his face, pressing him back into his seat playfully. Sly couldn’t help but smirk beneath his hat, knowing that she’d tricked him.
The beat thrummed along as she moved around to Aitora next. The tiger eyed her curiously as she moved around to sit in his lap next. She put her hand beneath his chin and lifted softly, looking into his eyes as she began singing again. “Captain Smith and Pocahontas…Had a very mad affair…When her daddy tried to kill him…She said Daddy oh don’t you dare…” she continued as she stood, grasping his shirt and gently pulling him to a standing position. But instead of pressing him back down she began to lightly dance to the rhythm. Aitora quickly caught the hint and moved around her, taking her hand and spinning her around, earning applause from the other patrons. “…He gives me fever…With his kisses…Fever when he holds me tight…Fever! I’m his Missus…daddy won’t you treat him right…” she said, purring lightly as Aitora spun her again and dipped her softly, smiling down at her bewildered but pleasantly surprised face.
He pulled her back to a standing position and spun around her again as she began to move back toward the stage, they holding hands and slowly parting, their fingers touching as long as they could. “…Now you’ve listened to my story…Here’s the point that I have made…Chicks were born to give you fever…Be it Fahrenheit or Centigrade…” The spotlight was on her again as she stepped onto the stage, turning to see the crowd again over her shoulder as she slowly stepped toward the curtain she first emerged from. “…They give you fever…when you kiss them…Fever if you really learned…Fever…Till you sizzle…But what a lovely way to burn…what a lovely way to burn…what a lovely way to burn…” she trailed off as she disappeared behind the curtain, leaving behind a drooling audience, and a huge round of applause.
Sly and Aitora settled back down as the applause died down. Sly took his glass, swirling the ice cubes in the fizzing liquid. “Look at you man. I didn’t know you were so smooth.” said the wolfox impressed.
“I have my moments.” replied the tiger as the lights got a little brighter.
“Think she’s got another number coming up?” asked Sly with a smirk.
“I think we should stick around to find out.” replied Aitora returning the smirk.
“Agreed.” said Sly calling the waitress over again to reorder their drinks.
“Thanks again for bringing me here Sly.” said Aitora.
“No problem at all man. Thanks for coming.” replied Sly with a smile.
