Hmmm. Well I did do a lion tail for my boyfriend's neice once and it was just the braided base with the fur only on the end. It was ok for the kid to play with but I don't think it is something I'd do for a commission.
This is yarn i'm working with an I can only make it so short. So it doesn't really work well for short haired species.
