Episode 1a: Card Games on Surfboards.
When the members of Team Desert Storm arrived at wave pool 16, Ariel and Cody gave their decks to Dan for safe keeping (who would be sunbathing and watching their stuff). For the next forty minutes, Cody was taught by Ariel how to properly float and swim. Although Ariel loved the fact that she was back in the water, this section of Duel World was reminding her too much of home. Even though most of the characters were dressed as Duel Monsters, like Deepsea Warrior, she was still reminded that she wasn’t really back under the sea. It wasn’t until a huge commotion caught their attention that anyone of the group stopped what they were doing.
“What’s going on over their,” Cody pointed to a crowd of humans and other aquatic furs.
“I don’t know,” Ariel smiled, signaling Cody to follow her swim, “let’s go see.”
The two of them swam over to the group, but there were far too many bodies in the way to see what they were all gawking at. Ariel tapped the shoulder of one of the Otter furs, “pardon me what’s everyone staring at?”
“Apparently, someone had somehow brought a real dolphin in the pool young lady,” the Otter patted his belly as he laughed from excitement, “not just a hologram or a fellow fur either. An actual Dolphin.”
“Okay, like, break it up,” Michael shooed as he floated closer on a mini-surfboard, “Look, it’s real radical that you all, like, like my friend, but give Splash some space to play, okay?”
Everyone wondered away to allow the dolphin to swim back out to deeper water and beside Michael. The wave pools’ water was the least chlorinated pool in the park to protect some of the more sensitive furs. Splash’s temporary physical form wasn’t bothered by it in the least.
“Whoa a real dolphin,” Cody would have jumped if he could, but his feet couldn’t reach the floor.
“I wouldn’t be so sure about that,” Ariel wasn’t convinced, “something about that dolphin is off.”
When the buzzer rang for the true waves of the pool to start again. Ariel and Cody had to swim to get out of the pool. Cody just wasn’t ready for that kind of swimming lesson yet. The two of them decided to wait out the waves with Dan for a little while.
Many people watched as the surfer and his pet swam out for deeper water. There were others that went out to deeper water, but these two were particularly watched. The unique oceanic waves were about to start. The further back you go, the radically higher the waves. Ariel watched as the two of them surfed their way back to shore. When his board finally touched down, everyone applauded his performance. His friends were the first to greet him, though. Ariel, on the other hand, was sickened by what he had said when he touched down.
“Wooo-whoooo! I’m king of the waves,” Michael waved his surfboard in the air, before being applauded by his team mates in their own ways.
“Please… I don’t see why everyone’s cheering for him,” Ariel rolled her eyes, “I can swim circles around him.”
“I’m sure you could,” Dan shrugged his shoulders, “but the whole point of surfing is to stay above the water.”
“I do that every day,” Ariel didn’t exactly understand human cultures yet, but Dan was certain she meant that as a joke. Cody was a little slower…
“No, you see,” Cody used his hands to create an illustration, “surfing is all about balance and control to stay afloat on a board.”
“I know how surfing works, Cody. I just don’t see how a sport in a man-made puddle makes someone the king of anything.”
“Ariel, it’s just an expre-”
“Well, I think it’s time for someone to show him how the ocean really works.” Ariel stood up and was off before anyone could stop her, “Yo, beach bum, you really think something like that makes you king of the ocean!”
“Um, no not really,” Michael shrugged, “honestly, I could have done radically better.”
“I certainly hope so,” Ariel crossed her arms, “you don’t even act like royalty.”
“Am I ‘sposed to?”
“What kind of question is that,” Ariel shouted as her teammates finally caught up with her. They were about to say something when…
“Whoa, chillax dudette.”
“What did you call me,” Ariel has never been called that before.
“Dudette,” Michael tilted his head, “it’s like a dude, except exclusively used for when addressing chicks.”
Cody slapped himself in the forehead, “Oh great…”
“So now you’re calling me a chicken!”
“What…,” Michael had a blank look on his face.
“Now you’re playing dumb after insulting me,” Ariel pointed at the surfer, “there’s no way I’m letting someone like you be the king of the ocean. I challenge you to a Duel.”
“Awe man,” Michael sighed rubbing the back of his head, “I was hoping that this va-ca wouldn’t involve me doing that.”
“You don’t have to accept her challenge, Michael,” Sora pointed out.
“That’s right, so…”, Michael was about to reenter the water, “can’t we reschedule for like a radically better time?”
“We’re dueling now,” Ariel shouted before turning to Dan, “Give me my deck.”
“Can’t you two do something to stop her,” Leo asked the two boys.
“Sorry,” Dan shrugged, handing Ariel her deck, “even we can’t stop her when she gets like this… Hey, do I know you?”
“Don’t think so,” Leo hid behind his book. He wasn’t embarrassed, but he knew exactly where Dan would recognize his face from. It’s not like his image changes all that much when he transforms into his Fursona.
“Yeah,” Cody looked a bit closer, “Oh, I know! That singer from Nature’s Fury!”
“That’s it,” Dan snapped his fingers, before pointing at Leo, “You look just like Picasso.”
“Oh, that’s because he is,” Michael bobbed his head.
“MIchael! That’s not cool,” Leo hid behind Sora, looking to see who else overheard their conversation, “No one’s supposed to know who we really are.”
“Leo, you’re an Okapi, not a scaredy cat,” Sora sighed.
“I’m going on a limb here and say that you must be Storm,” Dan pointed at Sora.
“Great guess considering I’m the only girl of our group,” Sora reached out to shake his hand, “But please just call me Sora. Storm’s just my stage name.”
“What are you going on about,” Ariel stopped digging for her disk for a moment, “who’s Nature’s Fury?”
“They’re a legendary dueling team that also play in concerts all over the world,” Dan explained, winking as Sora, “I didn’t know you guys had human forms.”
“That’s because no one’s supposed to know,” Leo frowned angrily at Michael. Michael just acted as if he wasn’t listening at all, whistling. “We’re supposed to be on vacation…”
“Don’t worry we wont tell anyone,” Cody reached into their supply bag for something for to write on, “so long as we can have your autographs.”
“Whatever,” Ariel finished up setting her duel disk, “I want to teach this guy a lesson.”
“Awe, but I wanted to keep surf’n,” Michael groaned.
“That’s fine by me,” Ariel nodded. Michael took a moment to process that and returned the nod, grinning from ear to ear. Everyone (except for the two challengers) wondered what they were thinking…

“Attention: Aquatic Duel is about to start. For your safety, Please exit pools 17, 16, 12 and all water paths between them. Attention: Aquatic Duel is about to start…,” the electronic AI announced to visitors in the area. It was all ready and set within only five, maybe six minutes.
“Okay, am I the only one here that thinks this is crazy,” Leo asked the other three (five including ‘spirits’). They all had front row seats for the big monitor where they were going to be displaying the duel live.
And it truly was… First there have been card games on top of blimps, and then trains, and then Motorcycles, But now this! This had to be a step down somewhere. Ariel, Michael and Splash all were waiting in the back of the longest wave pool in the Park. They got permission to do so, so long as they were allowed to be broadcasted across the park’s private channels for the entertainment of the guests (in exchange).
It might be a great Idea, it might not. The track wasn’t exactly a complete circle, and the duel may only be able to last maybe twenty minutes if it had to. In the very least, it would be a first. On screen, both Michael and Ariel were waiting on their surfboards for the simi-official signal to start when they got it, Michael turned to Ariel.
“Ya ready, Dudette?”
“I thought I told you to stop calling me that.”
“Did you,” Michael asked, taking a moment to think about it, “Hm… must have been during the last scene change,”
“The what? Oh, never mind, Just let me get my camera face on,” Ariel said as she lifted her transformation device. As weird as it is, a walkie-talkie with a slot and a sliding cover. “DogTag Insert,” she said as she slid said dog tag in the slot and snapped the lid shut, “Transmission!”
In a flash of aquatic light, Ariel changed in appearance. Her clothes disappeared into a one piece suit with a sharp looking skirt. Her forearms grew fins (missing her duel disk) that were as sharp as blades, as did the sides of her head. Her hands and feet became webbed and if you looked close enough you’d see that she had gills on the sides of her neck. Her hair was practically untouched save for the long braid like section that stretched down to her hips. Even the end of that braid had a blade attached to it.
“Paradise of the Sands,” Ariel leaped up in a tornado of water before landing gracefully on her board, “Desert Torrent.”
“Woah,” Michael nodded approvingly, “so you’re, like, a water user too, huh? What’s your fur?”
“I’m the embodiment of…,” Ariel paused as she knew how silly it was for her species to be on a team called Desert Storm, “a swordfish.”
“Radical,” Michael smiled turning to his partner, “But now it’s our turn. Right Splash?”
“Ready when you are,” Splash dove high into the air, higher than any normal dolphin.
“On Stage,” Michael shouted as Splash disappeared into a flash of light. Taking Splash’s place was a strange handheld device, of which Michael caught effortlessly. He clicked a small switch as he loaded a metal emblem into the open slot, “Nature’s Furious… Revolution!”
After pulling the trigger, Michael disappeared behind a wall of water. Behind said water wall Splash’s essence seeped it’s way into Michael’s body, transforming him into a dolphin man. The rest of his short hair disappeared for a grey skin. For some strange reason, two of his bangs grew radically longer. Behind him was his back that held his dorsal fin and bum that stretched his long dolphin tail. His clothes also shifted into a form more suited for a rock star if nothing else. Well, except for the collar’s design was like a leafy necklace that you’d find on some Hawaiian hula dancers. Being merged with Splash also gave the passive Michael a more uplifted personality. When the water subsided, the new Michael stood atop his board, all ready to surf.
“Radical Surfer of the Ocean Blue,” Michael spun one last time, amazingly without losing his balance, “Furious Crash!”
“Okay, that was… cool…,” Ariel (now Torrent) was shocked about her opponent’s transformation, “I knew there was something weird about Splash, but… whoa…”
“Radical,” Michael (now Crash) raised his thumb in approval, “So how’s about we get this duel started?”
“Right,” Torrent nodded, before the two of them signaled for the waves to start their flow. They started slow and small at first, but that was to be expected. It was like being a fish in a bowl, still that gave Torrent a wicked little idea. And not the surfer lingo version of wicked either.
“So want to make this duel even more interesting,” Torrent asked, Crash only gave her a glance, “since we’re both Aquatic furs. How about, the loser should spend the rest of the day in a fish tank as their feral form, while the other one is queen, or king… for the day?”
“Radical idea there Torrent,” Crash answered, “You’re on!”
The waves didn’t stays small for long and they were well on their way for the strangest duel ever dueled.
When the two of them felt that they were ready, they shouted, “DUEL!”
“I believe that it’s lady’s first, dudette.”
“With pleasure! Draw,” Torrent spun her board up and over the wave before she took a glance at her hand. This was going to be a little bit harder to do than she thought, “I’ll start off by summoning… Big Jaws in Attack Mode!” Behind Torrent, a shark’s fin rose from the depths and began following her down her wave. Under the waters, you would see a huge blue shark with an forever gashing mouth and metal plating all over its head like crude set of braces. (1800/300) “I’ll end by setting two cards facedown!” Torrent placed her Forgotten Temple of the Deep and Torrential Tribute, not knowing if her opponent could actually hear her voice, “I end!”
“Radical,” Crash’s voice echoed as he flipped over the wave as Torrent had done earlier, but now was riding the wave backwards on his board, facing his opponent, “I play the radical Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin!” Another dolphin man dove out of the water. This one without a tail, hair, or clothes for that matter. He flew next to his owner as if he was dashing across the sea, even if it was backwards. (600/800) “Next I activate the radical spell cards, Fighting Spirit and Aqua Jet, boosting my Dolphin’s attack to rival your radical Big Jaws.” The Neo-Spacian gained this aura of both blue and white energies, which raised his attack power all the way to (1900/800). “Although first, I activate my Neo-Spacian’s radical ability to take a peak at your hand.”
“If you insist,” Torrent said as she placed her three cards on the disk for the scanner to recognize them. The cards that were left in her hand were Jawsman, Shark Stickers, and Friller Rabca.
“I also get to destroy one monster that has and attack strength lower than one of my own and inflict 500 points of damage. I pick the ugly one on the right.”
Aqua Dolphin released a sonic attack at the surf girl. The holographic Friller Rabca card shattered as Torrent sent the card to the graveyard. It was fine that she lost a small chunk of her lifepoints, for now…
“Now my good buddy, Attack her Big Jaws with the Radical Neo Sonic!” The dolphin opened his mouth again as he attacked with his sonic waves. The shark leaped into the air to protect his duelist, but before the attack reached a hideously ugly Sea Serpent leaped out of the sea to defend the shark. The serpent shattered to dust.
“Sorry about that,” Torrent announced, “Friller Rabca has the ability to negate one of your attacks towards one of my sea monsters so long as I remove her from the graveyard. Also your Dolphin loses 500 attack points until my next End Phase.”
“Bummer,” Crash shrugged it off as his monster’s power decreased (1400/800), “oh well, I play two of my own cards facedown before ending my turn.” His dolphin’s aura changed from a Blue and White to a White and sickly Yellow do to the change in magics effecting him. (400/800) The two duelist focused on making the transition into the next wave pool that was already producing large waves. The pair continued to escalade their small game of horse.
“My draw,” Torrent rose up to the top of the next wave just were it was about to break and held her place until her next move was done. Her Big Jaws followed her loyally, “And I’ll play it now. Skull Kraken.” A tentacle shot its way under her wave and nearly knocked Crash off his board. After that a huge two mouthed skull with eight tentacles followed after surrounding it. (600/1600) “I also special Shark Sticklers to follow it to the field.” (200/1000) The giant suckerfish revealed itself from one of the bladed octopus’s tentacles. However thanks to Heroic Spirit’s effect, Aqua Dolphin’s Attack power rose (1000/800)
“Pretty radical,” Crashed dodged the many tentacles of her monster as he activated his trap, “but my radical Element Absorber will prevent you from even touching my Aqua Dolphin, so long as I remove a Water Attribute monster from my hand.” A new metal object appeared on the field a giant pyramid that once activated, began glowing a distinct blue. The pyramid opened itself up into a crude looking shield between Crash’s field and Torrent’s monsters. Torrent could swear that the alien dolphin was teasing her from the safety of the shield.
“A cheep trick like that wont stop me,” Torrent shouted, “When Skull Kraken is summoned successfully I get to destroy one spell on the field.” Skull Kraken shot lasers out of his eyes to destroy Fighting Spirit. Aqua Dolphin’s aura shifted only to the sickly yellow color as his stats fell drastically (100/800).
“I have three three star monsters on the field right now, but I’ll only need to use Skull Kraken and Shark Stickler to open the Overlay Network!” Her octopus and suckerfish flashed into a pair of brilliant blue lights and dove upward into a shimmering portal that appeared in the sky, “To Exceed Summon, the mediator of the sea and sky, Leviair the Sea Dragon!” Torrent’s new monster descended from the portal. It was a sea creature that used it’s large flaps of skin to fly in the air. It’s glowing mane almost looked as if it were on fire. It opened it’s beak to screech it’s arrival to the field. (1800/1600)
“Oh, I get it, since Leviair is a Wind Attribute monster then he’d be able to attack,” Crash gave Torrent a thumbs up, “Radical move Dudette!”
“Don’t call me Dudette,” Torrent flipped over the wave she was riding to get some distance from her opponent, “I activate Leviair’s ability to detach on Overlay Unit in order to bring back my Friller Rabca from the other dimension.” Leviair took hold of and eat one of the lights orbiting him, before crying out again. A portal opened and the monster eel returned to the waters. “Now that I have another Three-star Monster I’ll overlay them as well.” Her Big Jaws and Friller Rabca dove into the air and mimicked the earlier summoning process. “Exceed Summon, the spear that strikes through the spirits. Black Ray Lancer!” The leg-less dark warrior descended like a dark angel with his wings opened wide. He carried his signature spear weapon in his right hand as he “landed” on the imaginary space above Torrent (2100/600). “Now you’re finished, I attack with Black Ray Lancer!”
“This one’s gonna radically hurt,” Crash knew it wouldn’t hurt him, but he got out of the way for the assault on his Aqua Dolphin. Dark Ray Lancer threw an energy spear at Crash’s monster. Being stabbed by the energy spear, Aqua Dolphin shattered in a burst of light.
“Glad that radical attack didn’t hit me.”
“That be great if, I didn’t have one more to attack you with,” Torrent announced, Leviair opened it’s beak and let out a gusher of both water and air against the Neo-Spacian Although only the Air section of the attack passed through the Element Absorber. Crash slashed his way through the air assault..
“It might be best for you to give up now.”
“No way, I’m having way too much fun here,” Crash cut Torrent off on her current wave before moving on to the next section, “Plus I still have cards in my hand, plus one. Draw!” Crash smirked when he drew his next card “Make that two for I play the radical Pot of Greed!” Crash drew two more cards, “And now, I play A Legendary Ocean!” The field around them grew tremendously different. The waves were bigger than ever, but an Atlantan building radiated above and around them as they surfed. It was as if they were surfing underwater now.
“As you know this radical Field lowers the levels of every Water monster in our hands and field by one,” Crash wished he could bring back his Aqua Dolphin, but this would do for now, “but first now that A Legendary Ocean is our playing field, my radical Tornado Wall card can be played. This card will prevent you from damaging my lifepoints by battle.”
At this, Torrent was glad that she didn’t activate her current facedown sooner. The Forgotten Temple of the Deep was practically worthless now that her Big Jaws was gone.
“Finally, I play the radical Drill Barnacle.” The purple drill spinning sea creature rose from the ocean and placed itself at Crash’s feet. It was surprisingly small, but not when compared to it’s attack strength (300/0), even after the boost (500/200).
“So where’s your monster?”
“Right here dudette,” Crash motioned to the monster that stuck itself at his feet, “he may be small now, but he has this radical ability! This baby can attack you directly, but I’m going to activate another radical Aqua Jet!” The barnacle tripled in size as it dove back into the surfing waters (1500/200). “Attack with Drilling Burst!” The drills of Crash’s monster spun rapidly before they flew off like torpedos, striking down her Lifepoints. Torrent’s balance was disrupted for a moment from the force of the impact.
“He also gains a 1000 point boost for each successful radical assault. Although, Aqua Jets effects wear off when I end my turn,” Crash announced as his Drill Barnacle grew to it’s (2500/200) size, but shrunk back down to it’s (1500/200) size.
“Well, that’s just great,” Torrent dried some chlorinated water out of her eye, “I’ve got a couple of my best monsters out and now I can’t do anything until I get rid of that Tornado Wall.” Torrent drew her next card without any real effort, it was Shocktopus. This card wouldn’t be helpful at all. She looked back to her field trying to remember what her cards could do if not attack, “Oh right, I activate Black Ray Lancer’s ability to remove one of his Overlay Units in order to negate your Barnacle’s abilities and reduce it’s attack power to 0.” Drill Barnacle’s drills shriveled up into dust on the wind(0/200).
“Now why did you go and do that,” Crash thought to himself, “your radical monster was already more than strong enough to attack.”
“Let’s just call it insurance if you want. Now I attack with Leviair,” Torrent signaled for her dragon to blast away at Crash’s monsters. The Element Absorber filtered out the water fraction of his attack, but the remainder burst through with just as much strength and blew the remainder of the Drill Barnacle into the sky with a distinct twinkle.
“Radical,” Crash tried to see where his monster had flown off to for a moment, before pulling a card from his deck, “my draw now. Radical! I play Salvage! This card let’s me get back the radical monsters that have been sent to my grave.” Drill Barnacle and Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin exited his Graveyard and returned to his hand. “Now which to play? I choose to bring back my radical Drill Barnacle to the field.” The monster dove back out from the deep before settling itself on Crash’s board (500/200), “Now let’s try this again. Use radical Drill Burst!” Again, the purple drills of this monster launched themselves at Torrent. They were not nearly as strong as the first one, but Torrent still lost points.
“So now it’s my turn, Draw!” Torrent hoped this was a more helpful card, Poseidon Wave. Nope. It wasn’t useful here, but it did bring back memories. Her family had taught her to never give up. Even when it doesn’t seem like there’s anything that they can do. Torrent’s spirit rose up again as she took this moment to spin her board like a helicopter over the wave again, “I play one card facedown! Then I’ll attack your Barnacle with my Leviair.” The dragon repeated the entire process of sending the little parasite flying.
“Radical,” Crash tried to see where his monster had flown off to again. His lifepoints still untouched thanks to Tornado Wall. Torrent thought that Crash’s comment was making fun of her attempts to strike at his lifepoints.
“That’s the righteous spirit! My turn again,” Crash drew his card, “Whoa, would you believe it? My second Drill Barnacle!” The Barnacle returned to it’s place on Crash’s board. (500/200)
“I’m getting really sick of that thing,” Torrent said before the two duelist had to speed down the water path for the final pool.
“Dudette, you really do need to chill,” Crash shouted as he passed her again, “Go with the flow of the ocean, ya know? You’ll never be queen unless you do.”
“Oh yeah and you deserve to be king of the ocean? I have two strong monsters, while you’ve got a little parasite.”
“Hasn’t anyone told you, Power isn’t everything,” Crash asked, “I’d much rather take on one radical wave than a bunch of little ones any day, but then again, I can only do it once, you know? Where’s the fun in riding only one wave?”
“I guess that you’ve got a point there,” Torrent nodded to herself.
“You’re not going to give up on this duel, are you?”
“Hell no,” Torrent somehow sped up and passed Crash, catching the first real wave of the final pool, “Not while I still have lifepoints!”
“Righteous,” Crash managed to catch up with her, “but first prepare for yet another radical Drill Burst!”
Torrent was still in the led as the Drill Barnacle launched it’s attacks. she didn’t allow even one drill to really hit her as she dodged out of their way. She still lost lifepoints, but the viewers were impressed with her skills.
“And I turn it over to you, Dudette!”
“Draw,” Torrent took only one look at the card that depicted a submarine rising to the surface of the ocean, before she raced down the current wave. She rode up the wave in front of it like a skater on a half pike. She flipped and land back on the wave that Crash was on, “Try to beat that as I play my Shocktopus!” The bladed octopus shot itself out of the sky, but splash landed deep in the ocean. “Of course, my new monster’s not going to stay! Torrential Tribute! Torrent’s trap card revealed itself depicting a wall of water on it’s face. “and I’ll Chain Forgotten Temple of the Deep and activating it’s effect now!” Her second Trap Card revealed itself as a stone temple that was flooded with water.
“What does that card do?”
“Forgotten Temple of the Deep allows me to remove from play one level three or lower Aqua, Fish, or Sea Serpent Monster until my end phase. And thanks to your field card, my Shocktopus is now level Three, so I remove it from play before my Torrential Tribute washes the field clean.” Torrent’s Bladed Octopus dove for the Forgotten Temple’s waters before her trap card blasted a flood of water. This new flood swooped away every other monster on the field and sucked them into her trap card. The Torrential tribute card shattered, leaving both Duelists with an almost clean slate. “Now I’ll play Surface to bring back my Big Jaws from the Graveyard!” The metal mouthed shark returned to the surface beside her board in Defense mode. (1800/300) Plus it’s boost (2000/500)
“That’s our girl,” Cody smiled.
“She destroyed all of her own monsters when she could have just attacked,” Sora shouted, pointing to the screen, “That’s some serious overkill.”
“You’re not really one to speak about overkill,” Leo pointed out before getting blasted with Sora’s watergun.
“Actually, believe it or not,” Dan smiled as he crossed his arms, “she’s finally dueling like herself again.”
“You mean she wasn’t before,” Pepper floated by, forgetting that the other team couldn’t hear his comment.
“While your teammate’s strategy is avoiding conflict with shields like Tornado Wall and Element Absorber, then attacking in small bursts with Aqua Jet,” Cody wasn’t worried either, “While our Ariel loves flooding the field and sending entire waves of monsters to keep her opponent guessing. That’s more of her style.”
“Plus she used the very same tactic on us once,” Dan remanences as he stares at Torrent’s facedown. He knew what it was and he knew that a person like Crash/Michael wouldn’t resist it the first time around.
“I end as my Shocktopus returns to the field in Defense mode,” Torrent announced as her monster stabbed its way back onto the field and regaining it’s power boost (1800/1000).
“Now this fight’s truly radical,” Crash drew his next card, “righteous! I drew H - Heated Heart! I resummon my radical Aqua Dolphin to the field!” Crash’s favorite card returned to the field with a triumphant cry as he gained the boost from The Legendary Ocean. (600/1000) The alien dolphin continued on charging beside his duelist just as Big Jaws was with Torrent. “and since you don’t have a hand for me to peak at, I now activate Heated Heart!” A Spell card with a flaming red “H” appeared on the field. Aqua Dolphin curled up before he let loose a burning power from within (1300/1000). The alien stood with a crimson aura that radiated and shifted the water under his feet. “This card temporarily gives my monster a 500 point boost and a radical new power. Now when he attacks it doesn’t matter if your monster’s in attack mode. You’ll still lose lifepoints.”
“And my Big Jaws’ defensive power is only 500,” Torrent acted as if she was truly concerned. Her shark rose to the surface as if knowing what was coming and was prepared to defend his duelist.
“Now we attack with Heated Rolling Burst!” Aqua Dolphin dashed forward like a rocket to the moon, but before Aqua Dolphin could reach the shark he was stopped by a different wave entirely. Crash almost fell off his board when he saw the Trap Card that Torrent had played this time. It depicted a huge wave in the shape of two large hands with a figure that was unmistakably Poseidon himself.
“Sorry, but attacking activates my Poseidon Wave trap card,” Torrent called out, while signaling for the effects to continue, “this card also inflicts 800 points of damage for every Aquatic creature I control!” The very same waves that stopped his Aqua Dolphin shaped itself into a pair of hands that shot past Aqua Dolphin. Crash smiled a little bit as he received a face full of holographic ocean water. Everything on the field shimmered and vanished. Torrent was alone on that wave.
The TV screen instant replayed the scene one more time for anyone who might have missed it. “Oh no, it seems like the Trap Card had made Furious Crash loose his balance and WipeOUT,” the AI announced as it displayed the following on the screen:
“Desert Torrent wins this very special duel and has earned upgrades to her rank.”
“What just happened,” Leo asked, despite he had just seen it three times in a row.
“Crash just… crashed,” Sora put a hand to her head from embarrassment.
A few minutes later…
Crash rose back to the surface after the waves had settled. Only his head popped over the waters. He did not look happy at all. Torrent was waiting for him on her board. Torrent was smiling at him.
Crash only looked at her not saying a single word, “…”
“Well, are you going to congratulate me or what,” Torrent offered a hand up onto the board.
“…”
“Okay, so… I know you let me win.,” Torrent retracted her hand, “with Friller Rabca in my Graveyard and all, but the end result would have been the same.”
“…”
“That was a really great duel. It really perked up my spirits… so thank you very much.”
“…”
“Tell you what,” Torrent offered her hand again, “if you can forgive me for being such a jerk earlier, I wont make you stay in the fish tank. Okay?”
“…,” Crash finally smiled and took hold of Torrent’s hand as he heaved himself up on the board with her. He almost had completely forgotten about the girl’s transgressions..
“I’m glad there’s no hard feelings,” Torrent kicked in the water a little bit, before turning and grinning, “oh, but you’ll still have to call me Queen Ariel for the rest of the day.”
“…,” Crash got that devilish grin on his face as he mockingly bowed, “why yes, your majesty.”
Torrent didn’t have time to smile or react to the sudden blast of water that came from Crash’s blowhole. She fell backwards into the water as Crash only laughed his head off. When Torrent resurfaced she was not happy with the dolphin boy so she flipped him back into the water. Crash was prepared for it and started swimming away the moment he was back in the water, “can’t beat me to shore!”
“I’m part swordfish, Dolphin boy! Fastest fish in the sea,” Torrent cried out before she started her swim, “I’ll not only beat you to shore, but I’ll catch you and beat you WITH the shore!”
“Uh-oh,” Crash didn’t know exactly what she had meant by that, but decided it be best if he picked up the pace a bit.
As Torrent chased after Crash, somewhere on shore Sora sighed at her teammate’s immaturity, “I’m sorry, Crash is a nice guy, but he’s always been a bit of a sore loser.”
“Yeah,” Cody stated, “but you never mess with the princess.”

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
“Attention: Aquatic Duel is about to start.
4000 Crash:VS:Torrent 4000
It was fine that she lost a small chunk of her lifepoints, for now…
4000 Crash:VS:Torrent 3500
2000 Crash:VS:Torrent 3500
“Glad that radical attack didn’t hit me.”
“That be great if, I didn’t have one more to attack you with,” Torrent announced, Leviair opened it’s beak and let out a gusher of both water and air against the Neo-Spacian Although only the Air section of the attack passed through the Element Absorber. Crash slashed his way through the air assault..
300 Crash:VS:Torrent 3500
300 Crash:VS:Torrent 2000
300 Crash:VS:Torrent 1500
300 Crash:VS:Torrent 1500
300 Crash:VS:Torrent 1000
300 Crash:VS:Torrent 1000
0 Crash:VS:Torrent 1000
Wipeout Crash: Winner Torrent
