one of the reasons they lay like that is to cool off... Friends have a slate floor and my kids like to lay with their bellies on it... In the summer I clip their bellies to help keep them cooler. Seeing how I only have my female now I'm going to be clipping about 80% of her coat off to keep her cooler..
