Espyrn designed his new outfit! (tho you dont get to see it much here) But the way she drew him made him very pretty.
I decided he was an ex-navy guy in my pirate world~ so when he became a pirate he started losing his humanity like all the other pirates.
So his pretty face grew a muzzle, certainly the worst thing ever!!! Being a pirate isnt all its cracked up to be.

That's rather odd. How does a body of water know what evil is? If you do good things later, does it untransform? What if you're just good in general: do you change into something adorable? Are there people who actively try to pirate because they think that being a birdperson(or some other such curse) is an improvement? "No no, this is just a fashion statement. I take good care of the women and children when I rob them."
Aaaaand this is the part where I say its a fantasy world and you're thinking WAAAAY to deep into it XD All I have to do is say MAGIC and that just explains it all inna nutshell.
And no human wants to be a mutant, they'd be shunned from society for being different looking. So the people who ARE mutants are the rebels, evils, outcasts people.

But that's the best part of a fantasy world: coming up with neat ways for why things work! Just as we sit around contemplating why Earth works the way it does, so too would you have sphinxes pondering why the ocean thought they should have fuzzbutts, just because they like to "borrow" from other ships.
As for desire to be a mutant, you do remember you're talking about that on FA, right? :p When in doubt, remember that People are Weird.

This fantasy pirate world isnt FA. So yes as much as I'd love to have cat ears and all that I'm trying to make the world as close to how people thought in that sort of 1800s time period.
