Shale is a half-Dark Elf from a land known as Eldesta. As a member of the Phoenix Guard, he was a part of the commander Donovan's regiment when they were sent through a portal and arrived in the world of Phanterra and were taked with the protection of a small area known as Final Haven which had become the last safe place in a crumbling world that had been affected by a terrible Cataclysm.
Over time, this user of the Arcane arts magic began to use the darker arts and magic to accomplish the tasks otherwise unachievable through other means.
Several years ago, Shale was one of the last surviving members of the Phoenix Guard, so Donovan sent him, and the Dwarf named Lambic, back to Eldesta with the child-king to help raise and protect him. However, without Donovan's influence and his belief in The Light to keep Shale's interests in line, he's begun to slip deeper into the influence of The Darknesss.

This piece is a character drawing for a friend of mine's LARP character at Final Haven (www.FinalHavenLARP.com). We were sitting at a restaurant and I was in the middle of an artistic dry-spell and decided I'd try drawing his character... as a simple sketch, and... well... my Muse decided to wake up for a few hours and this is what I got. I'm actually REALLY happy with this piece, especially for something I wasn't expecting to do (well, I'm not so much happy with the necromantic creations; I'll probably remove them when I finish coloring it digitally.
My favorite part of the whole piece is the skull on his belt, to be honest. I'm not sure why, but it just came out well to me.
