This was a "gift" for a friend of mine from Team Banzai, I say gift in quotations, because I never could get it to him. The picture was really the gift. In the end, I don't know what happened to this one. I can only assume that the chocolate has melted if it was taken out of the fridge for long enough. Otherwise, this thing is probably in one solid piece, howling its heart out.
Oh and if that wasn't subtle enough, yes. This was made with chocolate. A two nice solid blocks off a bar of confectioners chocolate actually, I used a plain serrated blade, some toothpicks and a bit of patience to achieve the result you see here.
I think it was about three inches tall after I finished making it. It was fully three dimensional, complete with hollowed areas on the other side where the leg stood out.
I'm not fully pleased that I couldn't get the Howling expression more apparent though. It looks like it's just got its mouth open because I pulled the mouth back too far.
Likewise, the details didn't hold as crisply as I'd like because the confectioners chocolate was a loose base to start with, but also because as it softened in the heat, details could gouge into the chocolate, or fade away as other chocolate covered over them.
Still, for my first chocolate sculpture, I'm happy with the end result.
