I swear, my scanner has some kind of vendetta against watercolors. SRSLY. The lightest of shading seems to just disappear when scanned. CRAP!!!!!!!
However I'm still pretty pleased with this. :) This is Khloros, yes sitting backwards on a chair, and L5R fans will get the "joke." ;)

Watercolors = scanner sadism. My inks usually turn out fabulous when scanned...marker pieces fare pretty well unless I bust out sparkly shiny glittery paints (those never show up in scans) but watercolors...die horrible deaths.
Yes, I preview and adjust and everything. But there are TWO WHOLE LAYERS OF PAINT that NEVER GOT PICKED UP; the scanner could not detect a difference between the lightest shades of blue and gray and the PAPER ITSELF. Watercolor is an art of SUBTLETY, and this was also drawn on rougher Bristol than I usually use...the scanner seems to've killed all the paper texture AND some shading as well.
You also need to consider that I am basically computer illiterate and when my computer (with it's inferior Gimp program) conspires with my scanner to kill the shit out of my art, I have NO MEANS OF FIXING IT.
Thanks for making me feel like crap for posting this, btw. Nice to wake up to in the morning.
FYI: The L5R joke is not the pose, but the logo on the chair. The chairpose has nothing to do with it.

My comment based on your icon? Nope. I looked at your gallery.
And my comment is still valid. Regardless of any disability, your style looks like a 7 year-old's (well, maybe a 12 year-old) and if you're proud of your level of accomplishment due to your disability, then you can take that however you want.
You made a comment suggesting he didn't adjust his scanning settings. You don't know that he only has the basic drivers for the scanner, and thus adjustments are rudimentary at best. You had no understanding of what adjustments he made, you made an assumption instead.
Similarly, "Art School" has nothing to do with scanning artwork. Then again, "Art School" is such a blanket-term that it's apparent you really don't have a concept of what you're really talking about either as "Art School" can be anything from fine art, graphic design, product design, architecture, photography, 3D rendering, and more. Even if you take a fine-arts course, it's rare (in my experience, and those that I've seen) that they do more than a one-day lesson on how to scan things since most projects are actually larger than a typical 8.75"x11.75" flatbed scanner's scanning area anyways (you mostly learn how to adjust things in Photoshop, but if you scan and the data isn't there, you're S.O.L.).
So regardless of your "disabilities", you should know that when you make assumptions, and knock on other folks' artwork without actually giving any constructive criticism, you're likely to upset them more than help them. But since you've called me "Kid", you must be older than me and in your 40s, and should have learned these lessons long ago.
