Hmmm!

You know, with the "fusion" idea, I bet playing Pokemon would make it more interesting, instead of the traditional evolving :3

Not to mention the trainer would still have to search one region for that one Pokemon to fuse with the other, in a separate region...

Have you considered submitting this idea to the Pokemon company? Granted, they'd probably steal the idea, but still, the playability aspect would be greatly increased!

Combining species isn't a new thing for jrpg's - it's a fundamental part of some of the Shin Megami Tensei games, and -especially- monster rancher. I'm sure there are more, too. :)
