when i have a block i hang with friends and be free for a while *i let my self rest and don't try to force my creations out.*
i let inspiration come to me weather that inspiration comes weeks or months later. *which is my music seems to disappear from my submissions for a while XD*
Forcing it sounds bad and makes it sound like work, Creating it sounds good, is fun and, it comes to you.

To answer your question, I personally end blocks by doing art, oddly enough, especially for my RPG stuff. I get inspired by places and visual things, so when I draw, somewhere in the back of my brain there a little machine or something that goes, "HEY, deliver this theme to the front of the brain IMMEDIATELY!" and out farts some music inspiration :p

I find that the best way to deal with blocks, at least for me, is to just put everything on hold and not worry about it. I've never been able to force music myself. You eventually fall back into the swing of things. After I left my old soul destroying job a year ago and moved to my awesome current job I had ideas flooding in just because I was happier. My mood seems to have everything to do with writing music.

When I hit a writer's block I take a step away from what I'm writing, walk through the woods while listening whatever music I have on my mp3-player and if that doesn't help, I do stuff for the university. Somehow that always gets me back on the road.
