Another of those odd projects I have been doing lately. These are pieces made out of the results of a number of grooming sessions of my friend, Skye's, horses. I have always had a fondness for working with horse hair (from grooming sessions) so it seemed like a good idea. I also have made her a set, as keepsakes of each of her horses...she has a complete set, I don't (mostly due to a shortage of usable hair).
The top pieces are made of various types of wire, depending on what I have available at the time.
The larger of the two Jesse pieces is black coated copper wire with red wire wrap. Not sure what the stone is (it didn't have its label at the time). I picked the crown design because Jesse is definitely Boss Mare and the red and black motif because her (very affectionate) nickname is The Nightmare. The smaller piece is steel wire with black and red wire wrap.
The larger of the two Sulttann pieces doesn't have a wire top piece but rather a clip at the top with a leather wrap around it. The clip is attached to an ear hook..it makes a great Sorceress costume ornament. The smaller one is made out of a paperclip with 28 gauge wire wrapping. The shiny in the center is a crystal and there is a Tiger's Eye sphere are the bottom of the little beaded side piece.
The Sjouke top piece is made out of one of those color coated paper clips with 28 gauge wire wrap. The stone is a black cat's eye with silver seed beads on either side.
The Faith hair piece also has steel wire in it. I deliberately made it look like a Caduceus, since she is a therapy pony. I am not sure what the stone in it is (another lost label), but I picked it to match Faith's colors, along with the beaded hanging piece on the side. The bottom bead on that is a Tiger's Eye sphere.
The Talyia piece is steel wire with red and brass wrapping, to make it look more like a crown. Talyia thinks she is a bit of princess, the rest of the horses treat her like Garfield treats Nermal (who she acts like...more often than not). The stone is a purple dyed Agate.
I would be quite happy to make these for other horse owners as keepsakes of their pets, if anyone would be interested.
I also foresee being able to make more of these, as grooming allows.
No horses were harmed in the making of these.
Demonically inclined muses suggesting crazy ideas about making earrings in the same style as the twisted wire top pieces...are another matter.
