Holy crap I can't believe I never uploaded this, I drew this AGES ago. D:
This is my wee baby Yvaine, or rather a caricature of her. XD She's a Persian so she's quite cute/silly looking irl. Right now she isn't in a lion trim but she has been in the past, and I love the look, also I love a good blended mane seen here. XD
She's my sweet little North star, but also my wee little lion!!! I love my kitties. :D

You know, I find the lack of Persians and Himalayans in Furry art to be a little odd...more Persians and "persian variant" kittens are registered with the CFA every year than any other, and some years the number of 'em is over half of ALL PUREBREDS REGISTERED, so you'd think their popularity here in art would reflect their actual popularity, yet...not so much!
There needs to be moar Persian love. :)

I find any breed specifics with domestic animals is seriously lacking aside from well known dog or horse breeds. Even with the popular ones it often isn't to standard (eg Siamese are often lacking one of their points etc)
I don't know why there isn't any more Persians and Himmy's you think with all that lovely fur and their very expressionistic faces people would want to anthropomorphism them,
Then again I'd be happy if I just seen more domestic breeds rather than -cat- or -dog- anthro :\

Oh gods yes. The "generic cat" has it's place but...dood. :P The generic "dog" irritates me more, actually. :P
I love the expressive Persian breed!!! Though I do so love Siamese, tooooooo...ack I love 'em all. XD Though my favorites are Persians, Maine Coons, British Shorthairs, Manxes and Munchkins...then again I'm biased since I've owned at least one of each, LOL. Ironic, in that they were all rescues, and all purebreds. ;) The British Shorthair and Munchkin shocked me the most though...they aren't common and they aren't cheap!!! Especially Munchkins...they're like the newest, biggest fad in cat-dom. Yet she sat in a shelter for a YEAR and nobody wanted her! Go figure!

Too many people have the attitude that if it's pure bred it must be expensive or will never end up in the shelter. Often shelter workers won't bother researching animals too, then again I had a co-worker that didn't know what a Corgi was (she thought my Pembroke Welsh Corgi was a beagle crossed with a sheltie)
Mind you the breeders I worked for as a handler/trainer had contracts that at any point you didn't want the animal they took it back no questions asked before allowing it in the shelter.
If you love Munchkins have you seen a Napoleon cat? They're TICA registered right now and very new. I LOVE THEM, greatness of a persian/himmy with short legs! :D
When I seen them I was like 'so much cute cannot exist on this planet!' *explode*
British Shorthairs are so cool for the fact they can come in EVERY COLOUR OF THE CAT RAINBOW. I love sending people this page to say 'cats come in more colours and colourations than points, solid black and white'

I find this really interesting! In Sverak (Swedish cat association under FiFe), the ragdoll's been the most popular breed several years running, followed by the Norwegian forest cat and the birman. Persians are on the top ten (in Swedish, but most breed names are recognizeable), but don't even have half the registrations of the raggie.
Drawing specific-breed cats and dogs is fun!

Perhaps Himalayan cat owners just aren't "furry" types? Maybe their owners tend to be more "fancy", or older? They don't seem to be a "young people's" feline breed. Maybe most furries (again, being younger) don't, or can't afford pure-bred animals, or register them, especially felines?
