Here's what I have for one of my late commissions that I've been working/procrastinating on, and I'm at a point where I need some artistic advice before I go bungling off in the wrong direction.
Finding references for this has been a pain in the ass, and for a lot of it I'm pretty much just "winging it". I know there are some problems with anatomy, particularly in the arm on the not-fennec fox on the right (including the fact that her hand is currently missing because I haven't figured out the proper placement of her forearm yet), and with the back of the wolf on top. Their tails will probably not be showing.
Is there anyone out there with an eye for proportion, anatomy, and lighting that can critique (or ideally redline) this for me, or maybe offer some suggestions? (nothing that involves an overt changing of the poses or head positions, though - those are as the client wants them to be.
Be as brutally honest as you can, please, I'm not going to be offended by being told I'm doing something wrong - if I couldn't take critique I wouldn't be asking for it. I only ask that if you point out something is wrong, please also suggest what I can do to fix it instead of something like "her back looks too plain" because I probably am already aware of it and need to know what to *do* about it.
Thanks guys!

From just a viewers point of view, I would say that you possibly pretty much nailed it. The only thing I can spot out his the hovering hing on the girl to the lefts small of her back. Like it seems like the thumb should be resting against the girls fur and pointing finger should as well rest against the girl.
Besides that I think it's a beautiful piece of art! :)

I would say the gentlefur's arm is out of place somehow, yes. It just seems to me, if it's going to hang over a shoulder like that, it would be very difficult for the paw to come as far down as the girl's small of her back. That requires quite a long arm. ^^ It was the first thing that jumped out at me.
Other than that...wow...

I spent a little time with the redlining:

The critique is a follows (please pick and choose which if any you want to follow):
The male wolf's right upper arm was too short and his left upper arm too long. I got a little carried away red-lining those (change the upper arms and you suddenly have to change the forearms too >.<) but I did show what was going on behind the other characters to show how (I think) his arms should link to his body.
The females' necks -those on the center and the right of the picture- didn't seem to 'flow' into the position of their heads. I had a lot of trouble not imposing my own style here (you draw necks a lot more slender than me) but I hope it still looks like your work.
The shape of the back of wolf on top didn't look too bad to me but i added some detail. But there is a definite slope to the shoulders what wasn't shown.
Don't ask me about lighting as I haven't a clue.
Hope this helps.

Oh awesome!
This helps immensely, especially with the male's arms and the one girl's back; whenever I'd go to sketch in such details myself, I kept trying to make the sketch work with what was already there instead of going 'outside the lines' if that makes sense >.>
And yeah now that you mention it their heads do sort of look like basketballs plopped on top of tin cans o.O
Thank you!

I know how that is: Sometimes my brain wants to find an easy solution when drawing and that is not always possible. I felt quite bad about moving the arms like that because it gives you more work to do.
Anthro necks are that one bit of furry anatomy I find I have to 'wing' it. With the wolf on top it was positioned a little too far forward.
I'm glad to be of help anyway
