Lap of Luxury at my campsite. Well off the beaten track with two first-timers, so camouflaging myself in wasn't a big priority. Perfect weather, plentiful firewood... Absolutely loved it.
And yes, I was having a messy day under the hammock.

Way way WAAAAY more comfy than trying to sleep on the floor, especially in the woods. No annoying rocks, awkward lumps, mumps, and divets. And especially no pools of water forming in the tent when it rains! I highly recommend Hammocks! Very lightweight too, only 800 grams.
All tents really do is keep the wind and rain out - The tarp does that for me. As the tarp is set up there, its just for wind. We weren't expecting rain, so it was all cool. When I do expect rain, I set it up much lower and covering the sides, it would have to be raining sideways - quite literally - to get in.
As for cold... I have a very cosy sleeping bag. And when I say cosy, I mean "Bugger me I'm overheating! *Shove both arms outside to cool down*" kinda cosy. My old sleeping bag was rated to -12, and this new one is even better!

Lets see...
Cardiff to Bristol Temple Meads is 44 miles one day. so 88 there and back. Then another 88 to drop you off home. So 176 miles total.
My car does about 35 MPG on the motorway, 25 round town. So mostly motorway... 176 miles at 35 MPG is a hair over 5 gallons, or 22 Litres.
22 Litre at the current price (1.37p) is £30 of fuel
