well forensics would be advanced enough on their planet that they'd be able to tell the make of a knife (especially one with such a weird blade) if it were used in a violent crime. the bloodspatter would be very telling. FORENSICS IS SO COOL LIKE THAT i really wish i could afford this huge book on the science of blood spills and how you can tell what happened from them but alas i cannot

I'm having an opposite impression of this whole port-of-entry scene. It's almost as easy as crossing over to Canada from the U.S. used to be.
