"Got a request from a friend back home for a set of goggles all her own. She'd seen mine and thought they were brilliant, so asked for ones made for her. Aaand... here they are, every antique-dealer's nightmare of a pair of vintage gogs (from the 40's, probably) watch-parts (older) and various other bits from points unknown. >:)
She likes silver more than gold (she's a very fair, blue-eyed person, so silver works well), and when I found this pair of goggles with their low-profile, aluminum rims and silver-toned steel mesh, I knew they were perfect for this. <3
The big cross-thingy in one lens-cup is an old gear from a cuckoo clock. Those things are awesome. Cuckoo clocks are also DANGEROUS... to take apart: two BIG honkin' timing-springs, the metal almost an inch wide- one nearly took my finger off when I popped them. Yike! I'll know for the next time I mutilate a big clock. *giggle*
The other parts, like the "vintage" brass stampings (the silver-plated Fleur-de-Lis) were neat finds from my combing of the Net for materials.
So, it's back to the sewing-machine for now:
Kilroy plushie's face is freakin' adorable- working on his back-skutes and body now.
Being a busy little dragoness is cool. <3 "

Murrahnithahn-i-ia has a few really awesome goggles in her gallery, along with some other stuff. She's quite talented.
