Here we have Ianthisia taking Azurea out for her first real flight after five years with Lividus. Her mother begins to show her the raw power of cloud dragons/storm dragons.
Mine mine all mine.

Azurea, still a hatchling but five years older, five years of training wiser, peered down over the edge of the white marble balcony to the cloud cover below. Beyond the cloud veil was the tree line, and beyond that the ground. She swallowed back her fear as best she could, but it settled in her throat and refused to go back into her gullet.
Her mother, Ianthisia's shadow fell over the young dragoness, eyebrow raised and tail swishing in a somewhat annoyed manner.
“Well?” Ianthisia said with some disdain, “You have been flying with Master Lividus. Are you afraid to show me what you have been doing there?”
Azurea looked up at her mother with some nervousness. She could fly, she could fly around his tower with the safety of the bridge below...but this...
Azurea watched the gusts of wind all around below as cloud dragons flew this way and that, uneven, unsteady, unnerving. Around her master's tower there were no other dragons, save him and he didn't fly much.
Azurea looked back down and teetered towards the edge with her front feet, before her mother was fed up with the act and whipped her tail round and struck Azurea's rump with a stinging crack! Azurea jumped and was over the edge, yelping slightly in pain! Ianthisia slowly followed her hatchling over, pulling her wings in tight to gain momentum downwards.
Azurea rolled and tumbled through the air, falling fast as the world was every direction than what it should be. Ianthisia came close to the falling hatchling, graceful in a dive as the air whisked around her calmly.
“Azurea! This is NOT flying!” Ianthisia stated loudly as Azurea still rolled around blindly. Azurea made a sort of whining sound, before Ianthisia rolled her eyes. “OPEN YOUR WINGS HATCHLING!”
Azurea tumbled but opened her wings and suddenly she was ready to steady herself! POOF! A rush of air caught under them and steadied her falling into a more slow decent. She watched her mother do the same farther below when a rush of a large male dragon shot passed her and sent her tumbling into the oncoming path of another dragoness. Azurea pulled her wings in and dove a bit before flapping quickly to catch her mother and not almost meet anyone else.
“This way, hatchling,” Ianthisia stated, before beginning to fly towards the baron edge of the cloud veil. Azurea twisted herself around carefully before flapping quickly, following behind her mother's tail tuft in her slip stream.
The clouds thinned and suddenly Azurea was bombarded with a violent color of greens and blues, the forest below and the reflection of lakes peeking through her narrowed eyes. She sniffed the air as she saw the wild world below for the first time. It smelled odd, thick with water and mold and something else she couldn't define...like wet stone perhaps? Where were her and her mother going? She flapped a little to rise above her mother's body and hold in the large dragoness' slip stream, before the dark rupture of thunder echoed in her ears and the bubbling of storm clouds entered her line of sight. A storm! Azurea flapped a little more heartily at its sight, her first flight and her mother takes her to see a storm?!
Ianthisia rose a little more, and Azurea did the same above her, before a violent gust of wind came from the edge of the storm's hold. It rushed over Azurea and caught her wings oddly, sending her veering to the side before another gust pushed her twisting away from her mother.
Ianthisia stalled before her wings opened widely and the gusts subsided, pulled around her in a protective cyclone. Azurea steadied herself, her head falling slightly before joining at her mother's side once more.
“Stay close, Azurea,” Ianthisia stated harshly, before beginning to make her way into the storm. Azurea kept closer as her mother instructed, Ianthisia's magicks cutting a far gentler path through the gusting winds below the storm.
A lightning bolt struck, sizzling with life and power and made the clouds above them glow with saturation. Azurea jumped only the first time she lightning, and since it had been a fascinating display of power by the natural magicks around her.
Her mother arched up for the clouds border, Azurea following as they made their way through the smokey colored veil. She hoped she wouldn't be struck by lightning, or her ears would burst from the loud sound of the thunder's roaring. Azurea closed her eyes tightly for a moment, but opened them to the belly of the storm's wrath.
But...but the storm was...almost calm there. The clouds moved over each other like ocean waves and the lightning hopped from one cloud to the other like playing leap toad. Ianthisia stalled in the air, flapping her wings to hover there with her hatchling and letting Azurea see the tempest.
There was a rumble of thunder as lightning arced over them, and Azurea's eyes widened in awe and want. The thunder bellowed again, the crackling of another blaze of blue lighting streaming under them and Azurea's mouth opened.
Ianthisia stared at her hatchling as harmonies came out, streaming like ghostly echoes of sound over the clouds. But she sensed something else there, within those tones and the storm.
Antoher thunderous booming, the lighting thickening with power and Azurea called with it musical tones of magicks. Ianthisia was sure of it, she could not see the magicks flowing between the natural storm and the hatchling but even her mane started to prickle.
Azurea let out another high calling of loud tones, and the storm's clouds erupted in crackles and booms! Ianthisia's face frowned in confusion as a few snakes of lightning moved around in harmony.
And then Azurea seemed to snap out of it, the harmony gone, the storm falling into normal patterns of energy and light. Ianthisia looked to her hatchling carefully.
“What were you doing?” she asked Azurea.
Azurea grew shy and nervous.
“I was singing,” she said quietly.
“I am aware of that...” Ianthisia stated bluntly. “But that was not just singing little one.”
Azurea frowned a little more but went quiet on her mother, not having an answer to give her. Ianthisia took in a deep breath of calming and confusion, before looking to the storm once more.
“Cling to my mane, hatchling,” the elder dragoness ordered. “This storm is beckoning for a tornado.”
Azurea's eyes blipped open, before she flapped and clung to her mother's long, silky mane, tucking in her wings tightly and wiggling into its safety. Ianthisia's magicks echoed outwards, stretched along farther than anyone could see to hold the storm in her grip, firm and solid. Azurea felt the little twinge of power before the pair of them shot forward through the grey clouds like the lightning itself!
Ianthisia's wings opened and the rush of a forward motion shifted to turning, a great rushing of wind and thunder echoing around Azurea's ears as she tried to keep her eyes open. The storm curved, bubbled and growled as clouds began to twist inwards, around each other, meshing and exploding! Azurea felt the sudden pull of the cyclone's formation as her mother held the twisting circle around it far longer than Azurea could really stand. The little hatchling grew dizzy watching and closed her eyes as the thundering grew louder, longer and closer.
The the pair came to a hault, the air still rushing around them but Ianthisia hovered.
“Open your eyes, hatchling,” Ianthisia ordered in a silky tone and Azurea opened one slowly, then the other.
The tornado's raw power from above was intoxicating. Only a Cloud Dragon would think so but it was. Lightning bolts of blues and pinks shot around in the clouds as the roaring of the natural destroyer grew ever more in rage and awakening.
Ianthisia's head fell forward slightly, and Azurea held on tightly. She knew what that meant...
Ianthisia arched her long neck back up and opened her maw wide, the crackling of energy building in her throat as spits of lightning shot out like ashes. With a downward throwing of her head a burst of a solid orb of lightning shot down into the tender middle of the tornado's insides! The cyclone of destruction suddenly burst wider with life and began its path along the forest, sucking up debris, trees, whatever it could eat whole!
Ianthisia flew up beyond the clouds to watch it go, making sure Azurea's eyes were still upon it.
“We are cloud dragons but...” Ianthisia quieted as her hatchling grew attentive in her mane. “We are destroyers, just the same. We bring terror and show our power. You have power, Azurea. Do not let anyone else tell you otherwise.”
“Yes, mah,” Azurea said quietly as she watched the raw tornado.
Ianthisia suddenly frowned a bit, “Oops...I think that was a village. Ah well.”
Mine mine all mine.
