At first I just wanted to doodle an Itanta. Then I got an idea for Arctic Itantas in particular, so I gave it a bit of a background.

First off, the Itanta there is wearing typical winter gear for the species, warm clothing, and amber-tinted goggles to reduce the glare from the snow. Do they still wear sandals? You betcha. XD

Now, the big part. Arctic Itanta live in what can basically be described as Skyscraper Villages, small communities that live within solitary skyscrapers dotted about the planet's frozen surface. There's enough room to comfortably house about 100 Itanta, and the top two floors of each skyscraper include shops that sell basic supplies: Food, clothing, various other essentials, and very rarely, the occasional luxuries (TVs, videos and games etc) a travelling merchant might see fit to drop off.

Every Skyscraper Village has a small spaceport next to it for these merchants to land and drop off their supplies. The basic idea of these villages is to provide everything an Itanta needs without forcing them to go out in the cold for too long. Though the Itanta shown in this picture just wanted to pose for a festive photo. :3
