Christmas Time Is Here

Sitting by herself at the mall, Singapore sighs and looks about herself. She feels rather alone in the mess that is the downtown mall. People are moving about, doing their shopping, or sitting down to eat at the food court. She looks at her watch once again and sighs. Once again, he is late. Why is it that whenever they are supposed to meet at the mall, he is always late?
Before she can think any farther, there is a tap on her shoulder, and a man’s voice. “Excuse me miss, but I am looking for my girlfriend, and I was wondering if you have seen her. She is the most gorgeous woman in the world, and very understanding of a boyfriend that tends to be late.”
She turns around and smiles at the beast behind her. “No, I’m sorry; I don’t think I have seen her around. Why don’t you join me and maybe we can look for her together after my annoyingly late boyfriend gets here.” She giggles and then stands up, giving Dustin a hug. “You never can be on time, can you?” Her smile shows that she doesn’t mind so much.
“I think that if I were ever to be on time, it would shock you way too much. It might put you into shock, and then I would have to take you to the hospital instead of going shopping with you.” He laughs himself while giving her a kiss. “What would we do then?”
Shaking her head, she moves to his side. “Then we would do shopping after I got to leave the hospital.” They smile at each other and then walk about the mall, picking up a few last minute items that they had missed getting before. It is two days before Christmas, so there are many last minute shoppers about.
Singapore’s tail flicks about as she stops at one of the jewelry stores and admires the rings that are on display. She wishes that she could have one, but knowing that Dustin isn’t ready for it, she just sighs and walks on. What she doesn’t notice is that even as she walks away, Dustin stays behind a bit longer and looks them over before quickly catching up to her once more. He just smiles and goes back to the conversation they were having before.
Two days later, it is Christmas morning, and Dustin shows up at her place nice and early in the morning. He has his own key now, so he lets himself in so as to surprise her. He sneaks a small present under the tree she has set up and then heads upstairs to Singapore’s room. He quietly enters and tip toes his way over to her bed. Leaning over the edge of the bed, he leans in and gives her a kiss, murmuring, “Merry Christmas sweety.” He takes a step back and smiles as she blinks herself awake
“Dustin?” She sits up in bed and rubs her eyes before smiling and giving her boyfriend a hug. “Good morning! This is a surprise to see you here.” She looks at her clock. “I wasn’t expecting you for another few hours! I had the morning all planed out.” She pretends to pout for a moment and then smiles. “But this really is much better though.”
“Well, rise and shine my beauty and I will go down and make something up for breakfast.” He heads off down the stairs, leaving Singapore to get dressed and ready for the day. She heads down the stairs and smiles as she smells all the wonderful scents coming from her kitchen. “That smells wonderful dear.”
She sits down to a wonderful breakfast of eggs, bacon, and biscuits and gravy. It was all very good and filled her up well. “That has got to be by far the best breakfast I have had in a long time.” She gives Dustin a nuzzling as she smiles. “Now it is time to get you your gift.” She smiles as she gets up and heads to the living room.
“I can’t wait to see what you got me Hun. I bet it is something wonderful.” Dustin smiles as he follows her into the other room, wanting to be there when she sees the gift hiding for her. His tail swishes slowly as he takes a seat on the couch.
Suddenly there is a loud squeal from Singapore as she finds the small box. She turns to Dustin and she has the biggest grin on her face. “What is this? Is this from you?” She walks over to him and sits down with him and looks between him and the box.
“Yup, it’s from me, and I really do hope that you like it.” He smiles as he watches her open it. “I know it isn’t what you really wanted, but I hope a promise ring is just as well.” She starts to cry as she opens the box and sees a beautiful band. On it is the engraving, I promise to give you my heart and soul. She hugs him tightly after he slips on the ring, murmuring, “I love you so much, and I love this gift.”
